Barack Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4,1961. His parents separated (分开) when he was two
years old and later divorced (离婚). Obama grew up with his mother in Hawaii,and for a few years in
Indonesia. Later, he moved to New York,where he graduated from Columbia University in 1983. Obama met
his wife, Michelle Robinson,in June 1989 and married her on October 3, 1992. The couple"s first daughter,
Malia Ann, was bom in 1998, followed by a second daughter, Natasha ("Sasha"), in 2001.
Obama"s success is a true milestone (里程碑) . It speaks to the fact that in America you really do get a

Howard Carter was a famous explorer (探险家). He loved to visit new places. During his life, he discovered
many important and exciting things.
Howard Carter did not go to school. But he was smart and wanted to learn the world outside his hometown.
In 1891, at the age of 17, he went to Egypt (埃及) by ship. By the 1920s, he had become an explorer, looking
for the tombs (坟墓) of the Egyptian kings.
He found several important ones. Inside the tombs, he found jewels, gold and 10 bodies of dead kings. These
bodies are known as mummies (木乃伊). In 1922, Howard Carter made his most important discovery of all.
When Carter"s team was working at a place near a city called Luxor, they found the tomb of King Tutankhamun.
Not long after the tomb was opened, people in Carter"s team began to get ill and die strangely. Within seven
years, 21 people who had something to do with the opening of the tomb died However, Howard Carter lived on
and died at the age of 65.

Jack had five albums by 2010 and more than 15 million copics of them were sold. His music doesn"t fit into
any of the popular music styles like pop, rocks R and B or hip-hop.It is more like folk music, played with a
guitar and beautiful voice. When listening to his songs, you feel like lying on the beach enjoying the warm
sunfine.
Jack is a talent, though he himself says he is only a surfer who loves music. In his songs we can find his
secret of success. Whatever happens in our lives, we have to accept it and do the best we can.

Norman Bethune 1 born in 1890. He became a 2 in 1916, and he went to the front to look after injured
soldiers in the First World War. He saw many soldiers die in the war. Later he invented new treatments to 3
soldiers, and medical tools to use outside hospitals. In 1938 he came to China to treat the Chinese soldiers in the
mountains north of Yan"an. There were 4 doctors, so he had to work very hard. He opened hospitals to give
treatment to local people and soldiers, and to train doctors and nurses. He also wrote books so that doctors can
learn about new treatments.
Dr Bethune worked very hard without stopping to 5 . Once, he performed operations 6 69 hours without
