If you have a bottle of water recycled(再利用) from urine(尿), would you drink it? Astronauts at the ISS may soon do so.
NASA(美国航空航天局) said it would use a high-tech machine to recycle wastewater at the ISS. The machine will recycle water for washing hands, shower water, water for brushing teeth and even urine to make drinking water. It will save millions of dollars each year.
At present, each ISS astronaut uses about 4.4 liters(升) of water every day. It costs about 24 million dollars a year to send water up to the ISS. A liter of water costs about $ 11,000.
The machine will be sent to the ISS later. NASA hopes it will recycle about 93% of all the water used on the station.
Will the water be clean? Different chemicals will be put in the wastewater. The water will be heated to 130℃ to kill bacteria(细菌). Scientists say that the recycled water is thousands of times better than the water from a city tap.

A Brown University sleep researcher has some advice for people who run high schools: Don’t start classes so early in the morning. It may not be that the students who nod off at their desks are lazy. And it may not be that their parents have failed to enforce(确保) bedtime. Instead, it may be that biologically(生物学上)these sleepyhead(贪睡者)students aren’t used to the early hour.
“Maybe these kids are being asked to rise at the wrong time for their bodies,” says Mary Carskadon, a professor looking at problem of adolescent (青春期的)sleep at Brown’s School of Medicine.
Carskadon is trying to understand more about the effects of early school time in adolescents. And, at a more basic level, she and her team are trying to learn more about how the biological changes of adolescence affect sleep needs and patterns(方式).
Carskadon says her work suggests that adolescents may need more sleep than they did at childhood, no less, as commonly thought.
Sleep patterns change during adolescence, as any parent of an adolescent can prove. Most adolescents prefer to stay up later at night and sleep later in the morning. But it’s not just a matter of choice---their bodies are going through a change of sleep patterns.
All of this makes the transfer(迁移)from middle school to high school---which may start one hour earlier in the morning----all the more difficult, Carskadon says. With their increased need for sleep and their biological clocks set on the “sleep late, rise late” pattern, adolescents are up against difficulties when they try to be up by 5 or 6 a.m. for a 7:30 a.m. first bell. A short sleep on a desktop may be their body’s way of saying. “I need a timeout.”
小题1:Carskadon suggests that high schools should not start classes so early in the morning because _______.
A.it is really tough for parents to enforce bedtime
B.it is biologically difficult for students to rise early
C.students work so late at night that they can’t get up early

小题2:The underlined phrase nod off most probably means _______.
A.turn aroundB.agree with othersC.fall asleepD.refuse to work
小题3:What might be a reason for the hard transfer from middle school to high school?
A.Adolescents depend more on their parents.
B.Adolescents have to choose their sleep patterns.
C.Adolescents sleep better than they did at childhood.

小题4:What is the test mainly about?
A.Adolescent health care.
B.Problems in adolescent learning.
C.Adolescent sleep difficulties.
D.Changes in adolescent sleep needs and patterns.

Just as in face-to-face communication, there are some basic rules of behavior(行为) that should be followed on the Internet. The basic rule is simple: treat others in the same way you would want to be treated. Imagine how you’d feel if you were in the other person’s shoes.
For anything you’re about to send: ask yourself, “ Would I say that to the person’s face?” If the answer is no, rewrite and reread. If someone in the chat room is rude to you, you needn’t to fire back. You should either ignore(不理睬) the person, or use your chat software to block their messages. Remember to respect the beliefs and opinions of others in the chat room.
Everyone was new to the network once. Offer advice when asked by newcomers, as they may not be sure what to do or how to communicate. When someone makes a mistake, be kind about it. If you do decide to tell someone about the mistake, point it out politely. At the same time, if you find you are wrong, be sure to correct yourself and apologize to those that you have offended(冒犯). You’d better not ask others questions about their age, sex and families. Unless you know the person very well, and you are both comfortable with sharing personal information, or don’t ask such questions.

What can you do on the Internet? Many of us like to read the news, buy things and play games. Some students now have a new use for the Internet – helping them with their homework.
Tina, 14, from Shenzhen, Guangdong, often searches online for the answers to her math problems. She said sometimes she and even her parents don’t know the answers to the problems, so she has to turn to the Internet.
“I can see how other people work out these problems and learn from them,” Tina said. “It’s easy and saves time.”
But not all the students welcome this. Leo, 15, from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, thinks it may make students stop thinking.
“We should think over the problems first. Simply copying the answers won’t improve our abilities. ” he said.
In the eyes of Wang Zhaoming, a Shanghai teacher, the success of all this is down to the students. If they use the Internet properly (适当地), it could be a good tool for study, Wang said.
“Students should first think about the problems by themselves. As for the online answers, they should choose the best among different ones. The most important thing is to know the logic (逻辑) behind the answers,” he said. “Don’t be shy to ask teachers and classmates the next day if you don’t understand the answer.”
