A solar-powered(太阳能动力的)plane has passed an important test on the way to travel around
the world. The plane took off from an airport in Switzerland at 45km an hour. It slowly rose above the
fields and into the sky. During the 90-minute flight, the plane did several turns. It climbed nearly l.6km
 above the countryside.
"There has never been an airplane of that kind that could fly-never an airplane so big, so light, using so
little energy," said Bertrand Piccard, a leader of the project.
Engineers plan to test a night flight soon. They plan to travel around the world in that plane in 2012.
"We want to fly it day and night with no fuel (燃料). " Piccard said.
Piccard and the pilot Andre Borschberg will take the plane around the world. They will make a few
stops to change places and rest after a long time in the air and to show off their aircraft.
The plane flies at 70 kilometers per hour on average. That is faster than a bike. The pilots will keep the  plane in the air for up to five days at a time.

Do you know why different animals or pests have their special colors? Colors in them seem to be
used mainly to protect themselves.
Some birds like eating locusts (蝗虫) , but birds cannot easily catch them. Why? It is because
locusts change their colors together with the change of the colors of" crops. When crops are green,
locusts look green. But as the harvest time comes, locusts change to the same brown color as crops

animals.

Ask any student which subject he or she hates most. 9 out of 10 students will answer "math". No
matter which country you visit, no matter which grade you are in, you may not learn art, geography,
chemistry or Chinese, but you always learn math. Why is this so? How come so many students hate math,
and yet cannot avoid learning it in school?
Jenny Sanders, a high school student in California, asks, "What good do we get from learning math?
We can use computers to compute numbers, and we can use computers to store information. I think
learning math at school is a waste of time."
However, there is much more to math than just learning to add and subtract (减) numbers. In fact,
math is not so much about calculation (计算) as it is about learning to think logically (逻辑地) and solving
problems. Of course, Jenny was right that we can use computers to do calculations, but how would we
even know how to use the computer if we can"t think logically? In short, computers are only tools when
  solving problems.
For example, imagine you are a cook and must serve dinner to 100 guests. How should you divide
your resources so that you can get the job done most efficiently (高效地)? In situations like this, the
ability to think logically will get you to a reasonable answer and solve your problem.
