In today’s world many people seem to be hungry for money. Some of them even have lost their lives for it. Money does have a great effect on the poor, but if a person has a rich life, a lot more money doesn’t mean more happiness.
If money were everything, all millionaires would have true love, real friendship, health and a long life. However, this is not always true.
Nothing else is more pleasant than the three words “I love you”, but can love be bought? I’m afraid not . Love means “give”, not “take”. Health and a long life are precious things for every person. Well, can health and a long life be bought with money? The answer is “No”. Of all the people who live longest in the world, few of them are millionaires. Real friendship can’t be bought, either.
In a word, where money is worshiped, money can cause brothers to quarrel, lovers to hate, strangers to fight and so on, No matter how much money you have, it is still not enough to make you a happy person if you have no one to laugh with and no one to cry for.

答案

小题1:seems  are
小题2:Neither, nor

In today’s world many people seem to be hungry for money. 分析:运用句型:It seems that+从句。 同时hungry是形容词,主语为many people,因此Be动词用are.故填:seems  are
If money were everything, all millionaires would have true love, real friendship, health and a long life. However, this is not always true. Neither, nor
联系原文 :No matter how much money you have, it is still not enough to make you a happy person if you have no one to laugh with and no one to cry for.分析:No matter how表示无论什么,同义于however; enough to足够去做什么;no one没有一个人。
A group of adults, highly succeeded in their jobs, went to visit their old professor. Soon they began to _   _ the stress in work and life.
The professor went to the kitchen and returned_   _a pot(壶) of coffee and all kinds of cups — crystal (水晶的), glass, plastic; some nice looking, some common looking; some_   _, some cheap. And he told them to help _   _ to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said, “I’ve noticed that all the nice looking expensive cups were_   _, leaving behind the common and cheap ones. While it is_   _for you to take only the best for yourselves, that is the root(根源) of your _   _ and stress.
You know that the cup itself adds no quality (质量) to the coffee, _   _you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, _   _ you consciously went for the best cups.
Now consider this: Life is the coffee. The jobs, _   _ and position in society are the cups. They are just _   _to hold life, and the type of cup does not change the quality of our life. Sometimes, by only paying attention _   _the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee that God has _   _us. God offers us the coffee, not the cups. Please enjoy your coffee!”
The happiest people don’t have the best of everything. They just make _   _of everything.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak _   _. And leave the rest to God.

Sixteen years ago a boy gave me an important gift. It was a smile.
It was the early autumn of my first year at a middle school, and my old school was far away. As a result,no one knew who I was. I was very lonely, and afraid to speak to anyone.
Every time I heard the other students talking and laughing,I felt my heart break. I couldn"t talk with anyone about my problems.
Then one day, when my classmates were talking happily with their friends,I was sitting at my desk unhappily as usual. At that moment,a boy entered the classroom. I didn"t know who he was. He passed by me and then turned back. He looked at me,with a smile.
Suddenly,I felt the touch of something bright and friendly. It made me feel happy and warm. That smile changed my life. I started to talk with other students and made friends. Day by day,I became closer to everyone in my class. The boy with the lucky smile has become my best friend now.
One day I asked him why he had smiled, but he couldn"t remember doing so!
It doesn"t matter because all the dark days have gone. I believe that the world is what you think it is. If you think it is lonely, you might always be alone. So smile at the world and it will smile back.
