Then on a dark night in August, 1971, I began my third life. It was raining when I started home that night; strong winds and slashing rain beat down on the car as I drove slowly down one of the less-traveled roads. Suddenly the steering wheel jerked (猝然一动). In the same instant I heard the bang of a blowout. It was impossible for me to change that tire! Utterly impossible!
I started the engine and thumped slowly along until I came to the dirt road, where I turned in and where I found lighted windows welcomed me to a house and pulled into the driveway and honked the horn.

China is working hard to deal with the contaminated(被污染的)milk products scandal（丑闻）, which has so far left four babies dead, a senior official with the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Sunday.
Dr Shigeru Omi, director of the WHO Western Pacific regional office, told a press conference that China is taking the issue "seriously".
"After admitting the problems, the Chinese government is very serious about the matter and I hope the situation will be brought under control as soon as possible," Omi said.
The WHO is assisting China in looking into the scandal but will not conduct its own investigations(调查), Omi said.

"Every country can be affected, so the international community should work together to solve the problem," he said.

Glacier National Park in Montana shares boundaries with Canada, an American Indian reservation, and a national forest. Along the North Fork of the Flathead River, the park also borders about 17,000 acres of private lands that are currently used for ranching, timber, and agriculture.
