With a healthy image, handsome face and Japan"s coolest haircut, Takeshi Kaneshiro (金城武) is one of
Asia"s most attractive stars.
When "Turn Left Turn Right" (<<向左走向右走>>) opens in Chinese cinemas next month, there"s no
doubt the 29-year-old boy will get even more attention.
Takeshi stars as John, a lonely violin player who falls in love with a translator called Eve, played by Gigi
Leung(梁咏琪). Many of Takeshi"s fans like to copy his haircut, clothes and even his smile. But they will find
it hard to copy the way he plays the violin in the movie. He impressed his director To Keifung (杜琪峰) by
learning to play the violin in a few weeks.
This attitude to hard work is one of the reasons why Takeshi is such a good role model for young people.
Like many young people, he values friendship more than anything else. "My best friends are my former
schoolmates," he once said,"We became close when we were at school and will be friends forever."
Besides his good looks and hairstyle, he is well known for his healthy image. He started his acting career at
the young age of 15 but, unlike other pop stars, he has rarely behaved badly. He stays away from drugs,
alcohol and cigarettes. Violence, rude words and dirty jokes seldom appear in his movies.
"I hated foreign language classes when I was in school, but now I find speaking several languages helps me
a lot in my career," he said. For someone who only took up acting, Takeshi has come far. No doubt his star
will rise even higher.1. The title "Mr. perfect" suggests that _____. A. Takeshi always plays a perfect role in the film

and down America"s main streets. And at least some of the time those things are true. But we shouldn"t forget
that there are hard moments in the life of a teenager too.
I watched such a moment not long ago at a woman"s funeral (葬礼) which happened in a church. A teenage grandson stepped forward. Softly he began: "I want to share a few values that Nana taught me. She never failed to see light in any situation. When our family dog would attack her, what would Nana say? "Oh, what beautiful
markings that dog has." That was Nana."
"She was a strong woman who often lived in the shadow of my grandpa, who was a successful
businessman in this city. But she was the one behind the scenes who provided the strength and support for
Grandpa"s career," he said, with a voice now trembling."That was Nana"s way." Finally, in a voice breaking
free of sorrow, he looked up and said,"Nana taught me courage. She put up a fight to the end, when she died
peacefully, which is how she lived her life. That was Nana"s way, and I hope I can carry on in the same
manner."
There are no hearts as sensitive (敏感的) as those of teenagers, because everything is happening to them
for the first time. The trouble with teenagers is that they haven"t learned to be controlled. When that boy rose
to speak about the woman who had been his dearest friend, his honest voice dragged each of us out into the
open where we could no longer hide. I was moved and learned a lot. 1. According to the paragraph, what does "light" stand for? A. not heavy

emotions or feelings, are said to be cold-blooded killer. For example, the police are searching for a cold-blooded killer. He seems to kill for no reason, and no emotion, as if taking someone"s life as nothing.
Cold can affect other parts of the body. The expression"get cold feet" has nothing to do with cold or your
feet. The expression means being afraid to do something you have decided to do. For example, you agree to be
president of an organization. But then you learn that all the other officers have resigned, and all the work of the
organization will be your responsibility. You are likely to get cold feet about being president when you
understand the situation.
The expression "give someone the cold shoulder" probably comes from the physical act of turning your
back toward someone, instead of speaking to him face to face. You may give a cold shoulder to a friend who
has not kept a promise he made to you. Or, to someone who has lied about you to others.
A cold fish is not a fish. It is a person. But it is a person who is unfriendly, unemotional and shows no love
or warmth. A cold fish does not offer much of himself to anyone. Someone who is a cold fish could be
cold-hearted. Now a cold-hearted person is someone who has no sympathy (同情心).Several popular songs in
recent years were about cold-hearted men or cold-hearted women who, without feelings, broke the hearts of
their lovers.
Out in the cold means not getting something that everybody else got. A person might say that everybody
but him got a pay raise---he was left out in the cold. And it is not a pleasant place to be. 1. There are _____ expressions related to cold that are mentioned in the passage.A. 3
B. 4
C. 6
D. 7 2. When you refuse to speak to a man and treat him in a distant way, you may express by "_____". A. I give him the cold shoulder
B. I think he is a cold-blooded man
C. I think he is a cold fish
D. I"m likely to get cold feet 3. If Sue shows absolutely no reaction (反应) to those awful pictures of starving children in Africa,
you will say _____.A. she is a cold-blooded killer
B. she gets cold feet
C. she is a cold fish
D. she is out in the cold4. We can use the expression "_____" to describe a man who hurts his lover without mercy. A. cold-blooded
B. cold shoulder
C. cold feet
D. cold-hearted5. The topic of this passage is about _____.A. the relationship between cold and our body
B. some expressions about friendship

which tells the stories of happy sheep and gray wolf. The poor gray wolf is always trying hard to catch the
sheep, but the sheep could always run away from the danger. The sheep are so clever and lovely that the
cartoon gets all the children"s love. At the same time, the cartoon is full of humor. The children could learn
more knowledge and enjoyment from it.
The cartoon is shown repeatedly on many TV channels. The Zhejiang Channel broadcasts the cartoon on
weekends and the vacations; the Sichuan Channel broadcasts the cartoon for an hour in the evening; the
Shandong Channel broadcasts it in the morning, while CCTV-3 broadcasts it at noon every day.
On one hand, the cartoon gets the children"s love because the happy sheep is really clever. He always has a

husband with skills and effort. He invents many things just to catch a sheep for his wife. Though he is often
hit by his wife, he always makes her happy without complaining (抱怨).
We can learn more from the cartoon, including the skills, the stories, the details, the humor, and so on. We
could see the humor of Chinese type during the cartoon. But I don"t like its being shown so often. It may make
the children spend more time on watching TV and it is bad for their health and study. 1. The underlined word "cartoon" in the first paragraph is ______. A. a kind of picture
