下文有for nearly an hour和…an hour earlier。
James—nervous, the woman—confident,两人形成了对比,所以选A。
小题5:B由于自己紧张,女应聘者自信,再加上女应聘者“had been in there for nearly an hour”,所以该空用sure符合短文大意。
小题7:D 后暗示题,下文中的“…such a lot before the day of the interview. He had imagined himself…”
小题8:A 因为“极想得到这份工作”,所以“It meant everything to him”. happiness较everything过于具体、片面。
从下句中“He had imagined himself…”
19:C “that he had gone home after all”是虚拟语气形式,表达与事实相反的愿望,四个选项中只有 wish才有这种用法。

Let me take you back a couple of years. Come with me as we relearn a lesson, one that has stuck with me, in my present memory, and   36  me yet. We walked into Elida Road Hardware, an old-fashioned hardware    37___ . No automatic door, not a computer in the building. It was one that I went to fairly often. As we entered the door, two sounds    38  us. The sleigh bells of last year made that sweet, peaceful tinkle as we opened the door. The other sound was the electronic beeper that reminded Andy of our   39   .

“Just a spring for an old-fashioned screen door.”
“That’s it. A screen door spring, right down there. ” We   43  where he was pointing, and sure enough, there they were. And knew his store, and his products. That was why I came here instead of Meijer. The service couldn’t be beaten. The price; Yes. But service and  44    ;No.
I picked up one and followed him to the    45   .
He figured up the price, doing the math in his head, “ $1.88,with tax comes to $1. 99. ”
“ Put it on my dad’s account. ”
He nodded and smiled, “ Good dad’s account. ” He smiled. “I don’t know what you boys would do    46    dad’s account! ”
He handed me the ticket and as I    47    it, I asked, “You really trust my signature?”
His reply surprised,_   48    delighted me. “ When I can’t trust Jerry Hoover’s boys, I can trust nobody! ”
We left, and the brain immediately started to forget things, in order of importance. But what Andy said that day rang in my ears. And it rings in my ears today. That’s a tall order to live up to. It’s a high standard of    49   .My father made a fame for that name, and I get to enjoy the benefits. But on account of this, I must maintain that fame. And that’s     50    business.

Dear Editor,
I’m a Senior I study in a middle school. This term, my favorite teacher, Miss Mao, no longer teaches us. I want to see her, but I’m afraid that she no longer likes me and I don’t want to trouble her. I really miss her. What should I do?
Tian Yan
Dear Tian Yan,
It’s bad luck that you have lost your favorite teacher, But if she is still in your school , nothing can stop you going to see her. When she isn’t busy, ask her if she minds having a quick chat. You can then tell her she was your favorite teacher------ everyone is happy to know that they are liked!
If she has left the school, it will be more difficult to meet her. It will be hard, but remember people always come and go in their lives. We can’t rely on them to be with us all the time.
You may be sad to say goodbye to her, but we can remember and learn from her. Think of her best qualities.
You could also try looking for similar qualities in your other teachers. Study hard and give your new teacher a chance. In time, you might start to see that he or she has different qualities to learn from.
Finally, you can not completely rely on other people to get you through your studies , or even your life.
Editor

Writing a long book seemed to be too much for me. So, for a long time, I just wrote short articles. One day, inspiration(灵感) for an article hit me and, as I started writing, paragraphs began flowing out fast. It turned out to be too long to be an article. I thought it would not hurt to try self-publishing a booklet(小册子). The first printing of this 32-page black and white booklet sold out within a week. Here is something that I have learned through my experience.
1.Start small.
Don’t try to have a 400-page work as your first publication. I suggest you publish a booklet under 50 pages to launch your career as an author.
2.Ask for advice.
If you know some people who have published something, ask them for advice and help. You will gain useful information from them and save yourself many problems.
3.
When you put your heart into something only to hear“We’re not interested”,you may get hurt. But you must remind yourself that this is quite common. Every“yes”you receive comes after at least five“noes”,especially at the beginning. You need to revise your book many times to reduce the chances of being turned down.
4.The more you market, the more you sell.
You can publish an excellent book. But if no people know about it, you cannot expect many buyers. Send out an e-mail to friends, family and business partners, telling them your book’s publication date. Ask them to help sell your book.
Do not be afraid to try novel ideas.
小题1:What does the underlined word“launch”in Point 1 there mean?
A.Begin.B.Develop.C.Lead.D.Describe.
小题2:What’s the best title for Point 3?
A.No one will like what you wrote at first.
B.You will get hurt by what you wrote at first.
C.Prepare for a“yes”rather than a“no”.
D.Be prepared to deal with“noes”.
小题3:According to the passage, if you want to have more copies of your book sold, you should      .
A.advertise your book in newspapers
B.try to make more people know your book
C.ask your business partners to buy your book
D.write something that people are interested in
小题4:About self-publishing a book, the writer would most probably agree that       .
A.one usually makes no money out of self-publishing a book
B.one should never self-publish a book longer than 400
C.self-publishing a book is impossible for most people
D.asking advice from people who have published a book is helpful
