Long ,long ago a rich woman asked Martin Brown ,a famous singer ,to her house .She wanted him to sing for her friends .
But she didn’t want him to have dinner with them .She told him to eat with the servants (仆人）.
The singer wasn’t happy .But he said nothing .
After the meal he stood up and said to the servants ,“Now let me sing for you .”
The servants were quite glad .He sang them some songs .There was no piano in the room ,but he didn’t mind .When they ask for more ,he sang more .
At nine o’clock the rich woman asked the singer to come up to the sitting-room .When the came in ,her friends stood up and waited for the concert.
“You may begin ,Mr.Brown.”
“I sang a few minutes ago .I van’t sing twice in one evening ”
“But when and where did you sing ”
“You may ask your servants .I sang for them after I had supper with them .”
And with a “Good night ”,he left the rich woman’s house .<
