Last summer I was a volunteer (志愿者) at a shelter for the homeless, a place for homeless people to sleep at night. I wasn"t working that summer and was 1 only two classes in summer school, so I had some 2 time. Three nights a week, I helped in the kitchen of the shelter along with four other volunteers. One woman worked for almost 30 years for a small company, and then she lost her job. She looked for a new job, but couldn"t find one, for she was too 7 . We walked in so quietly that the nurse at the desk didn"t even lift her eyes from the book. Mum pointed at a big chair by the door and I knew she wanted me to sit down. I told her about the hospital rules, and she will not expect us until tomorrow. Dad will stop worrying as well. It"s a fine hospital. But such floors! A mop is no good. You need a brush." |
