When Jack was very young, he played football a lot, and he was vey good at it. But then he went and
worked in a town and there was no team for him there, so he stopped playing.
Then he began to get rather fat, so he thought, "I have stopped playing football, and now I"m getting fat.
What am I going to do?" He thought about it for a few days, and then he said to himself, " I know, I"ll play
tennis."
He had a few lessons, and then played for a few months.
He met a nice girl at the tennis club (俱乐部) one day, and they played a game of tennis against another
young man and woman.

Mr Lee was in bed and was trying to go to sleep when he heard the bell ring. He turned on the light
and looked at his clock. It was twelve o"clock. "Who can it be at this time of night?" He thought. He
decided to go and find out. So he got out of bed, put on his dressing gown (浴袍) and went to the door.
When he opened the door, there was nobody there. "That"s very strange." he thought. Then he went back

"Oh, it was the English boy next door!" Mr Lee exclaimed (惊叫) and almost smiled. He went back to

then back to his sister. My difficult condition became impossible to change. I was beaten, oh so easily, by
a ten-year-old chess player. He was the winner-in twenty-eight minutes.
"David Prag: a name to remember. I had a chance to use his game today, and it won this cup for me.
To him, of course, it is only one of a hundred, or perhaps a thousand, winning games." |
