Then you’ll be able to read the book right over your picture phone. Or you may be able to go shopping through your picture phone. Body language shows all kinds of feelings and is sometimes more important than spoken language.A smile is a usual facial expression----it shows that you are friendly to others. However, it does not always mean that you are happy. A smile can hide other feelings, like anger, fear, or worry. In most countries, nodding the head up and down shows agreement, while shaking the head means that you do not agree, or that you would not like to do something. If you stand holding your arms across your chest, you may be protecting yourself---just from a conversation you do not want! If you sit looking at the person you are talking to and then turn toward to him, it shows that you are interested. If you roll your eyes and turn your head away, most likely you do not believe what you are hearing, or you do not like what you hear. 小题1:Body language shows__________.A.all kinds of feelings | B.some special feelings | C.nothing | D.only happy feelings | 小题2:When a person smiles, ______________.A.it always shows he is very happy | B.it always means he hides some feelings | C.there may be some other feelings behind the smile. | D.it shows he is angry, worried or frightened. | 小题3:______________, nodding heads up and down shows he agrees with you.A.In most countries | B.In all countries | C.In some countries | D.In Western Countries | 小题4:If a man stands holding his arms across his chest, it means __________.A.he wants to protect himself from a conversation he doesn’t want | B.he is very interested in the conversation | C.he is pleased with the man he is talking to | D.he wants to know more about the man he is talking to |

My friend, Victor, is a zoo keeper in the National Zoo. His work is very interesting but it is hard. Sometimes it is dangerous, too. Every morning the zoo keepers have to get up at five to prepare the food for the animals. Each kind of animal is given special food. For example, the lions must be given meat; the deer must be given grass and leaves; and the parrots must be given fruit and nuts. Sometimes some animals won"t let the others eat their food. If this happens, each of them must be fed separately(分离地) . Every morning each cage must be washed by the zoo keepers. This can be dangerous, especially with lions and tigers. To make the work easier, the animals are locked in the sleeping compartments (隔间) while the cages are being washed. When the animals are sick, the zoo keepers must look after them. Each sick animal is kept in a separate cage and given medicine. Sometimes they must be given injections. It is not easy to inject(打针) a sick lion! All the keepers live near the zoo. Each of them has a small house. There he lives with his family. They do not have holidays on Sundays and public holidays. Instead, each of them has a day off during the week. Each keeper has a holiday on a different day from that of the other keepers. The most important job of the keepers is to look after the safety of the visitors. People must be prevented from doing dangerous things. Many people have been injured because they did careless things, like putting their hands into the lion"s cage. 小题1:What kind of food must be given to the animals like tigers, lions and bears?A.Nuts. | B.Fruit. | C.Meat. | D.Grass and leaves. | 小题2:Some animals must be fed separately because .A.they eat special food | B.they often quarrel with each other while eating | C.they always cause the zoo keepers much trouble | D.they won"t let the others eat their food | 小题3:All the zoo keepers must work .A.seven days a week | B.on Saturdays | C.on special festivals | D.on weekdays | 小题4:The underlined word "injured" in the last paragraph(段落) means . |

任务型阅读 阅读下文并回答问题。 The word “day” has two meanings. When we talk about the number of days in a year, we are using “day” to mean 24 hours. But when we talk about day and night, we are using “day” to mean the time between sunrise and sunset. Since the earth looks like a ball, the sun can shine on only half of it at a time. Always one half of the earth is having day and the other half night. A place is moved from day into night and from night into day over and over by the spinning(旋转) of the earth. At the equator(赤道) day and night are sometimes the same length. They are each twelve hours long. The sun rises at 6 o’clock in the morning and sets at 6 o’clock in the evening. For six months the North Pole is tilted(倾斜) toward the sun. In those months the Northern Hemisphere(半球) gets more hours of sunlight than the Southern Hemisphere. Days are longer than nights. South of the equator nights are longer than days. For the other six months the North Pole is tilted away from the sun. Then the Southern Hemisphere gets more sunlight. Days are longer than nights. North of the equator nights are longer than days. Winter is the season of long nights. Summer is the season of long days. 小题1:How many meanings does the word “day” have? ___________________________________________________________________ 小题2:At the equator(赤道),are day and night sometimes the same length? ___________________________________________________________________ 小题3:By what of the earth is a place moved from day into night and from night into day over and over? ___________________________________________________________________ |
