阅读下面短文并回答问题,然后将答案写到答题卡相应的位置上(请注意问题后的字数要求)。 [1]It’s a fine line parents walk as they try to guide their kids into adulthood. You want to protect but not treat too kindly, advise but not control and let them live their own lives—with some input,of course. [2]When your child asks for help or advice, give only what was asked for.If your Child asks you to tie a particular hard-to-tie knot(绳结)for a project she is working on,just tie the knot.Don’t start helping with the rest of the project or making suggestions on how to do it.She wants to do it herself,in her own way.Befor which your child has not askd for, count to ten.Perhaps in those seconds you’ll decide that the advice would do no good,or isn’t really that important, and you’ll drop it.If the advice still seems important, you will give it,but the pause may lead you to give it in a more thoughtful way. [3]Remember that your child is not you and is not a reflection of you.We mak a serious mistake if we try to shape our children into copies of ourselves,or if we think of them as extensions or reflections of ourselves. We need to help them to be them, not try to turn them into us or into something that we think will make us look good. [4]Our primary responsibility to our children is not that of telling them moment-to-moment or day-to-day how to behave but providing them with a healthy environment in which to develop. For example, one of the best ways you can help your kids is to work with your community to create safe-enough outdoor places to play in your neighborhood. 小题1:What’s the best title of this text? Back pain affects one in three British adults, costs the country over £5 billion every year and is extremely difficult to treat. (2)But now Britain"s National Health Service (NHS) will be offering a new solution: acupuncture (针灸).The ancient Chinese needle treatment has been around in the UK for many years, but this is the first time it has been officially supported. (3)Traditionally, doctors in the UK have advised back pain sufferers to stay active, do stretching exercises and take painkillers when necessary. In more serious cases some people are given X-ray treatment or injections. (4)The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), however, say there is evidence that acupuncture may_____ than expensive X-rays or injections, so patients who have been suffering for over six weeks should be given a choice. As an alternative to acupuncture, patients will be able to opt for either a course of spinal manipulation (脊椎推拿), or a series of special exercise sessions. (5)In the UK, acupuncture is classed as a complementary treatment, which is the term given to a medical procedure which hasn"t gone through the strict trials by which scientists prove some treatments work. (6)While many experts have welcomed the move to make acupuncture available on the NHS, some are still sceptical about its effectiveness. Research from the US earlier this month found that simulated acupuncture using toothpicks which do not make a hole in the skin could be as good as using real needles. So while some are yet to be convinced, back pain sufferers will be hoping that acupuncture helps get them feeling healthy and mobile again. Employers, on the other hand, will be hoping it gets them back to work. 小题1:What"s the best title of the text?(No more than 10 words) 小题2:Complete the following statement with proper words.(no more than 3 words) Not all experts are convinced of the benefit of acupuncture although many of them have ______for the application of the treatment 小题3:Fill in the blank in Paragraph 3 with proper words。(no more than 5 words) 小题4:What’s the difference between simulated acupuncture using tooth picks and real acupuncture? 阅读表达(共5小题;每小题3分,共15分) While it is impossible to live completely free of stress, it is possible to prevent stress as well as reduce its effect when it can’t be avoided. The US Department of Health and Human Services offers the following suggestions for ways to deal with stress. • Try physical activity When you are nervous, angry or upset, try releasing the pressure through exercise or physical activity. Running, walking, playing tennis, or working in your garden are just some of the activities you might try. • Take care of yourself You should make every effort to eat well and get enough rest. If you easily get angry and cannot sleep well enough, or if you’re not eating properly, it will be more likely that you will fall into stressful situations. If stress repeatedly keeps you from sleeping, you should consult a doctor. • Make time for yourself Schedule time for both work and entertainment. Don’t forget, play can be just as important to your overall well-being as work. You need a break from your daily routine to just relax and have fun. Go window-shopping or work on a hobby. Allow yourself at least a half hour each day to do something you enjoy. • Make a list of things to do Stress can result from disorganization and a feeling that “there’s so much to do, and not enough time”. Trying to take care of everything at once can be too much for you and as a result, you may not achieve anything. Instead, make a list of everything you have to do, then ______________________, checking off each task as it is completed. If you are worried about things and are under a lot of stress at work or school, then you are probably not sleeping well. Worry can keep you awake, tossing and turning in bed until the early hours of the morning when you eventually fall asleep. When you wake up, you don’t feel refreshed(精神振作), but tired and worn out and unable to face a new day. Dr. Henry Winkle, in a recent newspaper article entitled Stress and Sleep, indicates(暗示、表明) that . Dr. Winkle says, “The more we worry, the less we sleep, the more we are unable to deal with stress. If we can find a way to get a good night’s sleep,” he adds, “we can often find the energy to deal with what’s worrying us.” So, what is a good night’s sleep? Research shows that the amount of sleep which people need in order to keep healthy varies a lot. Seven hours is about the average amount, though strangely enough, sleeping longer often gives you a headache instead of making you feel more refreshed. Dr. Winkle believes that preparing for sleeping is important. People who work late should try to give themselves a short break and do something restful before going to bed. This could be watching TV or listening to music. Doing some exercise earlier in the day should help you to feel physically as well as mentally tired. A bedtime drink can also help, but coffee or tea should be avoided as they contain caffeine and will keep you awake. “When you put the light out,” Dr. Winkle says, “concentrate on relaxing your muscles, working slowly up from your feet, and you’ll be asleep before you know it.” 小题1:What is the best title of the passage?
