| A Great Scientist On October 31st,this year,the worldfamous scientist Qian Xuesen,who is hailed as "the father of Chinese aerospace" and "the king of rockets",passed away in Beijing at the age of 98.Born in Shanghai in 1911,he went to study in the USA in 1935 and received his doctor"s degree there. In the 1950s he came back to China against all the odds. He made remarkable contributions to China"s missile and aerospace programme,for which he was awarded a special medal for "two bombs and one satellite".
