解析
试题分析:本文叙述的是Glen Kruger听力受损之后,捡到了一只猫,他把它叫作Inky,在2009年的一个一月的晚上,Inky救了它的主人的生命的过程。 小题1:动词词义辨析:A. gave给,B. named命名,C. chose选择,D. remembered记得,这儿是说Glen Kruger给他捡到的小猫起了个名字叫Inky,所以选B 小题2:介词词义辨析:A. as做为,B. like象C. except除了,D. among在…中,Glen Kruger说他在一个一百英亩的农场上长大,只有猫作为他的玩伴,所以选A 小题3:名词词义辨析A. sound声音,B. alarm闹铃,警报,C. voice嗓音,D. noise噪音,Glen Kruger的听力只能是被机器的噪声损坏,其它三个选项都不会损坏人的听力,所以选D 小题4:名词词义辨析A. friends朋友,B. animals动物,C. farmers农夫,D. neighbors邻居,根据第一段中的“There was an uncommon connection between him and the small black cat.”和后面“They react to what they see and what you do.”可知,这儿的they是指动物。所以选B 小题5:动词词义辨析:A. dividing开车,B. visiting参观,C. sharing分享,D. discovering发现,根据“Inky was a gentle cat,”可知,Inky很温顺,所以它和其它五只猫共同住在一个屋里,所以选C 小题6:代词词义辨析:A. anything任何事,B. nothing没有事情,C. everything每件事,D. something某些事,根据后面讲的Inky救Glen Kruger命的过程,可知是它做了一件让它与其它普通的猫区别开的事。所以用D 小题7:形容词词义辨析:A. ordinary普通的,B. lovely可爱的,C. familiar熟悉的,D. outstanding杰出的,与Inky救主人的命比起来,其它的猫相对就是普通的了,所以选A 小题8:动词词组辨析: A. shut off关闭;B. shut out把……关在外面; C. shut down停工;D. shut up:住嘴,囚禁。 Thinking思考,根据前面的Glen Kruger被架子带下了梯子,所以他应是躺在血泊里,所以选B 小题12:代词词义辨析:A. it它,B. itself它自己,C. himself他自己D. him他,根据后面的going into shock可知,是Glen Kruger他快要休克了,所以选 himself.选C 小题13:连词词义辨析:A. but但是,B. and并且,C. or或者,D. so所以,根据 “He shouted for help,”和“his wife, Brenda, was asleep in their bedroom at the opposite of the house”可知,这两句话之间是转折关系,所以选A 小题14:副词词义辨析:A. Thus因此,B. Otherwise 否则,C. Then然后,D. Rather相当,then在这儿意思是就在那个时候,可以体会到Glen Kruger向妻子求助没有得到回应要绝望时,突然看到了Inky那种喜悦的心情。选C 小题15:动词词义辨析:A. walked走,B. withdrew撤退,C. returned回来, D. ran跑,Glen Kruger看到了Inky,于是让它去叫他的妻子,Inky于是就跑到了卧室门口,所以选D 小题16:副词词义辨析:A. madly疯狂地,B. suddenly突然地,C. rapidly快速地,D. urgently紧急地,Inky跑到卧室门口后就疯狂的抓门,直到Brenda打开门,选A 小题17:名词词义辨析:A .bedroom卧室,B. house房间,C. yard院子,D. basement地下室, Glen Kruger在地下室,Inky自然要把他妻子带到地下室。所以选D 小题18:介词短语辨析: A. in the front of 在…的前部,B. in the middle of在…中间,C. at the top of在…顶部,D. at the bottom of在…底部,根据上文中架子倒地的时候把Glen Kruger带下了梯子,所以他现在应该在梯子下面,选D 小题19:动词词义辨析:A. regretting后悔,遗憾,B. resting休息,C. recovering恢复,D. relaxing放松,Glen Kruger被送进了医院,在医院里是花了六个月的时间恢复,所以用C 小题20:副词词义辨析:A. ever曾经,B. never从不,C. still仍然,D. already已经,因为Inky救了Glen Kruger一命,所以他要时刻把它带在身边,从不离开。选B |

If you want to play alongside them then you will have to do the same. Therefore, the young guys on the Celtics started giving their ______ effort too. Pierce had been the star of the Celtics for many years. He used to shoot the ball many times a game. But with the addition of Allen and Garnett he shot less and ______ defense(防卫). His selflessness showed the young players that doing what made the team better was the only thing that _______. When the Celtics were winning and the game was almost ______, Garnett, Pierce and Allen would come out of the game. But they wouldn’t just sit on the bench. ______, they stood and cheered and screamed for their teammates. They wanted to ______ their friends and teammates. They are ______ just teammates. They are brothers. The result: the Boston Celtics won the 2008 NBA championship and are considered the favorites to win the Eastern Conference championship again this year. I made a pledge(发誓) to myself on the way down to the vacation beach cottage. For two weeks I would try to be a loving husband and father. The idea had come to me as I listened to a talk on my car radio. The speaker was quoting a Biblical (圣经的) passage about husbands being thoughtful of their wives. Then he went on to say, “Love is an act of will. A person can choose to love.” To myself, I had to admit that I had been a selfish husband. Well, for two weeks that would change. And it did. Right from the moment I kissed Evelyn at the door and said, “That new yellow sweater looks great on you.” “Oh, Tom, you noticed,” she said, surprised and pleased. Maybe a little puzzled. After the long drive, I wanted to sit and read. Evelyn suggested a walk on the beach. I started to refuse, but then I thought, “Evelyn’s been alone here with kids all week and now she wants to be alone with me.” We walked on the beach while the children flew the kites. So it went. Two weeks of not calling the Wall Street firm where I am a director; a visit to the shell museum though I usually hate museums. Relaxed and happy, that’s how the whole vacation passed. I made a new pledge to keep on remembering to choose love. There was one thing that went wrong with my experiment, however. Evelyn and I still laugh about it today. On the last night at our cottage, preparing for bed, Evelyn stared at me with the saddest expression. “What’s the matter?” I asked her. “Tom, ” she said in a voice filled with sadness, “do you know something I don’t?” “What do you mean?” “Well…..that checkup(体检) I had several weeks ago….. our doctor ….. did he tell you something about me? Tom, you’ve been so good to me….. am I dying ?” It took a moment for it all to sink in. Then I burst out laughing. “No, honey,” I said, wrapping her in my arms. “You’re not dying; I’m just start to live.” 小题1:The writer thought he was a _______ husband in the past.A.lovely | B.loyal | C.strict | D.selfish | 小题2: From the story we may infer that Tom drove to the beach cottage _______.A.with his family | B.with Evelyn | C.alone | D.with his children | 小题3: The underlined words “one thing” in the text refer to the fact that _______.A.he praised her sweater, which puzzled her | B.she insisted on visiting a museum, which he hated | C.he knew something about her illness but didn’t tell her | D.he was so good to her that she thought she must be dying |

They say love can cover a lot of crimes; yet never have I seen it more beautifully showed than in the life of a dog named Jessie. Jessie came into our lives at the age of six months. By that time he had already experienced the hard knocks of life. He was found abandoned on the side of the road, where we adopted him and took him home. From the beginning, it was obvious that Jessie was traumatized (受精神创伤的). He was afraid of everything: the car, the doors, the stairs, and just about everything else. We couldn’t foresee where Jessie’s fear would take us. Jessie was with us for about six months, when we became foster parents to a mixed-breed young dog. Jessie did not like her at all. We all lived in a nervous co-existence, until dinnertime. Within moments a food fight erupted between Jessie and this foster child. It all happened so fast, and I was in the middle. My husband managed to get in between the two dogs, grabbing Jessie by his collar. Jessie screamed all the way down the hall and into the bedroom. I, quickly put the foster dog into her own bedroom and hurried down the hall. The crashing I heard in the bedroom, scared me to death. But nothing prepared me for the scene I witnessed as I opened the bedroom door. There was my husband, on top of a terrified Jessie, holding back his head. Blood dripped from my husband’s arm. To tell you the truth, as I was sitting beside my husband in the emergency room, I just didn’t know what to do with Jessie. I was so angry at that dog. Day after day, week after week, however, my husband faithfully trained the dog that others would have put down. As his arm healed over the next months, something rare and beautiful began to take place. Jessie, under my husband’s gentle persuasion, began to understand and obey. And Jessie adored him. I could see, that although the tempest had ruled Jessie’s former life, affirmation and love had calmed the storm. 小题1:Before being adopted by the writer, Jessie had _______.A.suffered a lot | B.Lived a happy life | C.lived on the road half a year | D.often fought against other dogs | 小题2: Paragraph 2 shows that the writer was ________.A.happy | B.disappointed | C.angry | D.worried | 小题3:It can be inferred from the text that the writer’s husband’s arm bled because of _________.A.his own behavior | B.the writer’s fault | C.Jessie’s bite | D.The new foster dog | 小题4:What would be the best title for the text?A.A Dog Named Jessie | B.Love Calmed the Storm | C.Conflicts Between Dogs | D.Fights Between Man and Dog |

When Sally Ride was ten years old, she had no idea that she would some day grow up to be one of America’s first woman astronauts. In fact, if you had asked her then what wanted to be, she would have said, “ I want to play shortstop for the Los Angeles Dodgers.” Sally collected baseball cards by the boxful, and she knew the name and batting average (击球率)of every player in the National League. But major league baseball didn’t seem much of a possibility for a girl, even an athletic one like Sally, so her father and mother talked her into taking tennis lessons when she was twelve. At first she hated to trade in her baseball bat for a tennis racket, but it wasn’t long before she started to win tournaments in her new sport. “ Tennis became much more fun when I started winning,” Sally remembers. Soon a row of trophies (奖牌)replaced her box of baseball cards, and tennis star Billie Jean King replaced Dodger shortstop Maury Wills as her sports idol. Sally first became interested in the space program in 1962 when astronaut John Glenn orbited the earth in his Mercury space capsule. Sally was ten years old at the time, but she remembers the launch and the splashdown (掉落) as if they happened yesterday. The girl who used to memorize batting averages became a space fan. She quickly learned the name of every NASA astronaut(there were only eight of them in 1962), the date of every launch, and the name and number of every spacecraft from Freedom 7 to Skylab 3. She could tell you the speed of light (186,300 miles per second), the distance to the moon (238,860 miles), and the names of the three nearest stars( the Sun, Alpha Centauri, and Barnard’s Star). By the time she was sixteen, Sally had decided to become an astrophysicist, a scientist who studies space. She had also become a nationally ranked tennis player. She remembers yawning(打哈欠) through an important tennis match on June 20, 1969, after staying up all night to watch Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon. Sally lost the match. As Sally got older, many of her friends started playing professional tennis. Some of them tried to talk her into quitting school to join them on the professional tennis circuit. But Sally said no. “ Black holes are more interesting to me than backhands,” she told them. Now she knows that she made the right choice, but in 1970 Sally had no way of knowing that NASA would open the space program to women. 小题1:At the age of twelve, Sally Ride ________.A.was interested in playing tennis | B.was persuaded into taking tennis training | C.began to become interested in space | D.decided to become an astrophysicist | 小题2:Sally Ride lost the match on June, 1969 just because________.A.she was tired | B.she couldn’t decide whether to be an astrophysicist | C.she couldn’t decide whether to take part in a professional tennis circuit | D.she wasn’t interested in tennis | 小题3:From the story we know that Sally ________.A.had been a professional baseball player | B.had never been a professional player | C.had never been a woman astrophysicist | D.wasn’t interested in space program | 小题4:A capsule is ________.
