阅读理解     William Butler Yeats, a most famous Irish writer, was born in Dublin on June 13, 1865. His childhood
lacked the harmony (和睦) that was typical of a happy family. Later, Yeats shocked his family by saying
that he remembered "little of childhood but its pain". In fact, he inherited (继承) excellent taste in art from
his family-both his father and his brother were painters. But he finally settled on literature, particularly
drama (戏剧) and poetry.
Yeats had strong faith in the coming of new artistic movements. He set himself the fresh task in
founding an Irish national theatre in the late 1890s. His early theatrical experiments, however, were not
received favorably at the beginning. He didn"t lose heart, and finally enjoyed success in his poetical
drama.
Compared with his dramatic works, Yeats"s poems attract much admiring notice. The subject matter
includes love, nature, history, time and aging. Though Yeats generally relied on very traditional forms, he
brought modern sensibility to them. As his literary life progressed, his poetry grew finer and richer, which
led him to worldwide recognition.
He had not enjoyed a major public lift since winning the Nobel Prize in 1923. Yet, he continued
writing almost to the end of his life. Had Yeats stopped writing at age 40, he would probably now be
valued as a minor poet, for there is no other example in literary history of a poet who produces his
greatest works between the ages of 50 and 75. After Yeats"s death in 1939, W. H. Auden wrote,
among others, the following lines:
     Earth, receive an honoured guest:
William Yeats is laid to rest.
Let the Irish vessel (船) lie.
Emptied of its poetry.1. Which of the following can describe Yeats"s family?A. It filled Yeats"s childhood with laughter.
B. It was shocked by Yeats"s choice.
C. It was a typically wealthy family.
D. It had an artistic atmosphere.2. According to the passage, what do we know about Yeats"s life?A. Yeats founded the first Irish theater.
B. Yeats stuck to modern forms in his poetry.
C. Yeats began to produce his best works from the 1910s.
D. Yeats was not favored by the public until the 1923 Nobel Prize.3. What kind of feeling is expressed in W. H.Auden"s lines?A. Envy.
B. Sympathy.
C. Emptiness.
D. Admiration.4. What is the passage mainly about?A. Yeats"s literary achievements.
B. Yeats"s historical influence.
C. Yeats"s artistic ambition.
D. Yeats"s national honour.

阅读理解     JK Rowling, the Harry Potter author, has signed a deal with Little, Brown and Company, to publish her first ever novel for adults, which is set to become one of the most anticipated (期望的) book in years.
The deal means that Rowling"s long-standing relationship with Bloomsbury, the London-based publisher that launched (发行) the Harry Potter books, has come to an end, at least in terms of new works by the

Rowling is keeping her fans guessing about the characters and plot of her new book. She thought that with the move from children"s to adult fiction, a switch to a new publisher seemed
like a natural and reasonable step.
She said, "Although I"ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, this book will be very different from the
Harry Potter series. The freedom to explore a new field is a gift that Harry"s success has brought me."
Ian Rankin, the Edinburgh-based author whose highly-successful detective novels are also set in the
city, suggested Rowling"s book will be a crime novel.
"Wouldn"t it be funny if JK Rowling"s first novel for adults turned out to be a crime story set in
Edinburgh?" he said.
Industry insiders guessed that the deal is worth more than £5 million and the new book is expected to come out later this year.
A spokesman said, "JK Rowling"s audience is vast and her position is unique. Harry Potter books were a global success and her fans are very loyal. Children that were eight, nine, or ten when the books first
came out in the 1990s are now in their 20s. Plenty of adults, loved the books regardless of whether they
had children, so the potential market for her is huge."1. What does the text mainly tell us?

of a famous pop song appeared on the Internet took to the stage in front of thousands of fans in Shanghai
last Saturday.
Wang Xu, 44, and Liu Gang, 29, sang “In the Spring” alongside the song’s star composer Wang Feng, in front of about 80,000 people at the Shanghai Stadium.
The audience buzzed with excitement and let out deafening cheers, the moment as they were introduced on the stage and then when Liu started the first sentence of their parts of the song.
The two migrant workers became stars after singing the tearjerker (催人泪下的) song during an
evening drinking session in a 6-square-meter rented room in a late August evening. A friend recorded the
performance on a cell phone and posted it on the Internet.

guard, roadside peddler, and porter, but never had a stable job. Street performing was his main income,

computer. They even have a microblog(微博) account to communicate with fans.
