题型:不详难度:来源:
Not everyone in the world requires the same amount of living space. The amount of space a person needs around him is a cultural (文化的) difference, not an economic one. Knowing your own psychological (心理的) space needs is important because they strongly affect your choices, including, for example, the number of bedrooms in the home. If you were brought up in a two-child family and both you and your sister or brother had your own bedrooms, the chances are if you have two children or more, that you also will offer separate bedrooms for them. In America, for example, they train people to want to have their own rooms by giving them their own rooms when they are babies. This is very unusual in the world. In many other countries, the baby sleeps in the same bed with his parents or in bed near them. The space in the home also shows a lot about psychological space needs. Some families gather closer to each other and the size of their house has nothing to do with it. Others have separate little corners where family members go to be alone. Although it is true that psychological space needs are not decided by economic reasons, they sometimes have to be changed a little because of economic pressure(压力). It is almost impossible, however, to completely change your psychological space needs. 小题1:The first sentence in Paragraph 1 “Not everyone in the world requires the same amount of space” means “______”.A.Not two people need exactly the same amount of living space | B.Living space requirements are not always the same | C.The world requires the same amount of living space | D.Nobody needs a required amount of living space | 小题2:Some families gather closer to each other at home than others because ______.A.they have limited living space | B.they are brought up in a large family | C.it satisfies(满足) their psychological space needs | D.the children in the family sleep in the same bed with their parents | 小题3:Which of the following is true according to the passage?A.Americans are trained to live in the large rooms at birth. | B.Economic situation decides one’s amount of space needs. | C.People in different countries demand(need) different psychological space. | D.Knowing your psychological space needs is important, as it has effect on your future. | 小题4:The best title for this passage is ______.A.American Way of Living | B.Psychological Space | C.Space Needs in Different Countries | D.Psychological Space and Economic Pressure |

Jason What I like best is seeing Arsenal win and playing football. If I am feeling sad I will play a football game on my Play Station 2. The best day I have ever had was when I finished first in the 800-metre race at my secondary school. It was a school record, although I didn’t know that at the time. My family makes me happy, too. I just talk and my friends start laughing — they think I am silly. Ashleigh If I’m having a bad day, knowing that someone is there for me can make me happy. Kinzey The most exciting thing I have ever done in my life was when I went abseiling in Wales. But that was a one-off. To all of you at Chinese love links. I am 44 years old and never married. I have always wanted to find that perfect someone that I dream about. For about the last five years I have almost given up the hope of ever finding the one I truly wish to spend the rest of my life with. I have always tried to be a nice guy. I had found your website some four or five months before. I did not know what to expect. I don’t know how to speak Chinese and never thought truly of how I was to an Asian woman. Well, I had a lot of replies from some very nice and pretty women. I had a hard time finding only a couple to write to. But one stood out from the rest. She was cute, nice and seemed to hold a lot of the same values as I do. In a short time I had decided to write only to her. We communicate via e-mails 2-3 times a day and phone calls once or twice a week. I went and met her and her family only a week ago. Her name is Yun and she lives in Nanning. I found Nanning to be one of the most beautiful cities I had ever been to. We had even decided to marry and bring her to the USA under the finance visa. Not only did she meet everything I had ever hoped to find in someone else but turned out to be what every woman should be like, at least the ones I have met. We plan to marry as soon as she is here and start a family together as neither of us has children but we both want them. So to anyone out there reading this, I can only say this: You may not find what you are looking for if you’re not honest with your partner and yourself. This site worked for me mostly because I was honest with something that I wanted in someone else. When I did find her, love can work even across the other side of the world, between language differences and cultural differences. I wish you all luck in finding your perfect match. I have finally found mine and wish to give all my thanks to those at Chinese love links to help make it happen. Sincerely yours, Arthur 小题1:We can infer from the letter that Chinese love links is a website to ____________.A.help foreigners to travel in China | B.help both Chinese and foreigners to find one they want to marry | C.help Chinese and foreigners make friends | D.receive letters from the USA | 小题2: Which of the following is true about Arthur’s story?A.He was sure of finding a Chinese woman as his wife at first. | B.He was determined to find a Chinese woman as his wife. | C.He almost lost hope in finding a perfect wife until he found Yun. | D.No women wrote to him before Yun. | 小题3: Yun stood out from the rest because ________.A.she was a Chinese. | B.she had much in common with Arthur | C.other women stopped writing to Arthur | D.she was cute and nice and often phoned to Arthur | 小题4:Arthur thinks _________ is the most important in finding someone one wants to marry .A.being honest with the partner and oneself | B.help from the website | C.difference in languages and places | D.difference in cultures |

We Americans are wasteful people, not used to saving. Early settlers, our forefathers set us an example of wasting everything, for they thought nature’s resources were so plentiful that none of them ever imagined that natural materials would be used up in time. Within a few years of the first Virginia settlement, for example, pioneers burned down their houses when they were ready to move west. They burned down their houses with only one aim to get the nails(钉子)for future use. No one ever gave a thought to the priceless hardwoods that went up in smoke. As a people we destroy many valuable things that other people save. I noticed this when I was living in Britain. I received a letter from one England’s largest banks. It was enclosed in a used envelope(信封)that had been readdressed to me. Such a practice would be unthinkable in the United States. American banks, even the smallest, always use expensive stationery(信笺)with the names of all twenty - eight vice – presidents lists on side of the page. 小题1:According to the passage, we know the writer is ________ .A.a Chinese | B.a Japanese | C.an Englishman | D.an American | 小题2:The writer thought their forefathers ________ .A.set a good example | B.wasted many natural resources | C.knew natural resources would be used up in time | D.made the best use of natural materials | 小题3: Which of the following statements is wrong?A.The writer lives in Britain now. | B.American banks use expensive stationery. | C.Americans are not used to saving. | D.The writer’s forefathers burned down their houses in order to get the nails. | 小题4:The purpose of the passage is to ________ .A.wish Americans not to waste | B.tell us the English are a good people | C.warn Americans against saving | D.encourage people to work hard. |
