Kidney"s main job is to remote toxins(毒素) and unwanted water from our blood.Every day our kidneys clean an average of 200 litres of blood.Kidney failure may be a gradual and silent process, going unnoticed because there is no apparent pain. Research shows that more than 35% of the patients requiring dialysis (透析)do not see a kidney specialist before they have to do so.Some risk factors for kidney disease such as age and genetic make up are out of our control; however, some changes in lifestyle may help prevent kidney damage. Two major risk factors for kidney disease, diabetes (糖尿病)and high blood pressure, have been on the rise over the last few decades. Both conditions are chiefly affected by being overweight and not getting enough exercises, which are the potential risk factors for the kidney disease. 66.The author gives the example of the house we live in to indicate that ______. A.it doesn"t matter much if the waste in our body is not emptied in time B.our body will not produce any waste if our kidneys work efficiently C.it"s important for our body to empty the waste in time every day D.it"s safe and harmless for our body to keep some waste 67.The underlined word “insidious” in Paragrap 3 means . A.smooth and safe B.apparent and fast C.gradual and unnoticed D.long and painful 68.We can infer that when we find some symptoms related to our kidneys, . A.the kidney failure begins B.the kidneys can still work properly C.we have lost about 10% of kidney function D.the kidneys may have been seriously damaged 69.How many risk factors of kidney disease are mentioned in the passage? A.Six. B.Five. C.Four. D.Two. 70.Which of the following helps prevent kidney damage most effectively? A.Go to see a kidney specialist shortly before dialysis starts. Ⅲ 阅读(共两节。满分40分) 第一节阅读理解(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分) 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。 A Good health is the most valuable thing a person can have, but one cannot take good health for granted. It is important to remember that the body needs proper care in order to be healthy. There are three things that a person can do to help stay in good shape: eat right food, get enough sleep, and exercise regularly. Proper nutrition (营养) is important for good health. Your body cannot work well unless it receives the proper kind of “fuel”. Don"t eat too much food with lots of sugar and fat. Eat plenty of foods high in protein (蛋白质) , like meat, fish, eggs and nuts. Vegetables and fruits are very important because they provide necessary vitamins (维他命) and minerals. However, don"t overeat. It is not helpful to be overweight. Getting the proper amount of sleep is also important. If you don"t get enough sleep, you feel tired and easily get angry. You have no energy. Over a long period of time a little amount of sleep may even result in a change of personality. Be sure to allow yourself from seven to nine hours of sleep each night. If you do, your body will feel strong and refreshed, and your mind will be sharp. Finally, get plenty of exercise. Exercise firms the body, strengthens the muscles, and prevents you from gaining weight. It also improves your heart and lungs. If you follow a regular exercise program, you will probably increase your life-span (寿命).Any kind of exercise is good. Most sports are excellent for keeping the body in good shapes: basketball, swimming, bicycling, running and so on are good examples. Sports are not only good for your body, but they are enjoyable and interesting, too. If everybody were to eat the right foods, get plenty of sleep and exercise regularly, the world would be a happier and healthier place. We would all live to be much older and wiser. 41. None of our early ancestors could digest milk as adults because their bodies never had to ----milk drinking simply wasn’t an option. As people began to extract milk from animals, though, some people developed the ability to keep drinking it throughout their lives. Scientists now know of a milk-related mutation ( 变异) in our genes -- the chemical instructions for life that we carry in almost every cell in our bodies. People who have a mutated form of one particular gene can drink milk just fine. People without the mutation tend to get sick from milk. To figure out where, and possibly why, milk drinking started, some scientists have been looking at who has the milk-digesting mutation today. Patterns are striking. Most adults in Northern and Central Europe are able to digest milk -- and they do. Cheese and butter and other dairy products are popular in countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Germany and England. Because European settlers dominated North America, most people here can handle milk just fine, as well. That may explain why ice cream is such a popular dessert in the United States. In much of Africa, Asia and South America, on the other hand, people tend to avoid dairy products because they lead to diarrhea (腹泻) and other stomach problems. (That’s why you won’t typically find cheese on the menu at a Chinese, Japanese or Ethiopian restaurant.) Native Americans are also unable to digest milk. Based on these genetic patterns, scientists have long thought that- milk drinking started inNorthern Europe, where dairy is an institution and the milk-digesting mutation is everywhere. A recent study painted a different picture. With a computer medal, Thomas and colleagues looked at the spread of the milk-drinking mutation, farming and other related factor. Working backward, the scientists concluded that the first milk-thinkers lived in Central Europe around what’s now Hungary about 7,500 years ago. The practice didn"t start farther north, as scientists had thought before. 66. Which of the following is the proper order of events according to the passage? a. Do you wake up in the morning dreading the moment that your feet have to hit the floor for you to get ready for work? If that’s the case, join most of Americans. Very few people wake up to that annoying alarm clock and spring out of bed excited about having to go to work. As if that were not enough, most of us have to fight traffic getting there, usually an hour’s drive. Then, when we get to work, we have to fight with unruly co-workers or a nagging boss. And to make matters worse, you have to fight the same traffic going in the opposite direction just to get back home. Making dinner, fixing plates, eating and then straightening up afterwards is a job within itself. If that sounds like your life, you probably have a J-O-B. you know what J-O-B stands for? Just Over Broke, that’s what! With a job, most Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck and hating every minute of it. I know because I was doing the same thing: trading time for money. And, I came to a conclusion that it stinks (糟糕透了)! Big time! Looking around at my co-workers, friends and relatives, I saw that they were all doing the same thing I was doing. They were complaining about the same things I was complaining about : not having enough time or money. And, I decided that I wanted to do something different. So, I started a home-based business. There are several to choose from. The extra income has done so much for our family. We can vacation more. We have been able to give more. And, we’ve even been able to do something calling save! It’s been amazing. Therefore, if you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, it’s time you make a change, too. The definition of insanity (疯狂) is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I know you aren’t stupid. If you continue to do what everyone else is doing: trading time for money, you’re going to keep getting what everyone else is getting: being broke and not having the time to do what is really important to you. Do your due diligence. Find a home-based business that works well for you. Go to work, and live the life you’ve always imagined! 小题1:According to Paragraph 1, which of the following statements is TRUE about most Americans?A.Most Americans are excited to go to work every day. | B.Most Americans are used to sleeping in the morning. | C.Most Americans are tired of having to go to work every morning. | D.Most Americans have alarm clocks to wake them up in the morning. | 小题2:By writing the first three paragraphs, what feeling does the writer express?A.Regret. | B.Joy. | C.Pride. | D.Dissatisfaction | 小题3:What does “something different” in Paragraph 4 refer to?A.To set up a business at home. | B.To complain about life and work. | C.To spend more time on holidays. | D.To resign from the former job and get a new one. |

D "In only six days I lost seven pounds of weight. " "Two full inches in the first three days!" These are the kinds of statements used in magazine, newspaper, radio and television ads, promising new shapes and new looks to those who buy the medicine or the device. The promoters of products say they can shape the legs, slim the face, smooth wrinkles, or in some other way to add to beauty or desirability. Often such products are nothing more than money-making things for their promoters. The results they produce are questionable and some are dangerous to health. To understand how these products can be legally promoted to the public, it is necessary to understand something of the laws covering their regulation. If the product is a drug, FDA(Food and Drug Administration )can require proof (证明) under the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act that is safe and effective before it is put on the market. But if the product is a device, FDA has no authority to require premarketing proof of safety or effectiveness. If a product already on the market is a danger to health. FDA can request the producer or distributor to remove it from the market voluntarily, or it can take legal action, including seizure (查封) of the product. One notable case a few years ago involved an electrical device called the Relaxacisor, which had been sold for reducing the waistline. The Relaxacisor produced electrical shocks to the body through contact pads. FDA took legal action against the distributor to stop the sale of the device on the grounds that it was dangerous to health and life. Obviously, most of the devices on the market have never been the subject of court proceedings (法律诉讼),and new devices appear continually. Before buying, it is up to the consumer to judge the safety or effectiveness of such items. 71. It can be inferred that the ads mentioned in the text are . A. objective B. costly C. unreliable D. illegal 72. Which of the following is true according to the text? A. The court is in charge of removing dangerous products. B. FDA can ask for the proof of safety and effectiveness of a product . A. if it is a drug B. if it is a device C. if its consumers make complaints D. if its distributors challenge FDA"s authority 74. The Relaxacisor is mentioned as . A. a product which was designed to produce electricity B. a product whose distributor was involved in a legal case C. a successful advertisement of a beauty product D. an example of a quality beauty product 75. The author intends to . A. make consumers aware of the promoters" false promises B. show the weakness of the law on product safety C. give advice on how to keep young and beautiful D. introduce the organization of FDA |
