POLLUTION-THE HAZARDOUS JOURNEY One particular issue in managing drainage nasims is controlling pollution.Pollution has many cases and may come from a single 'point' source(e.g.one factory),from an area(e.g.an industrial zone),or a whole region.The product may be a gas(e.g.carbon dioxide),a particulate(e.g.smoke),or dissolved in water (e.g.nitrates).These pollution products travel along pathways,including the atmosphere,streams or though the soil,to sinks such as seas.groundwater,lakes and soil.Here they may build up to reach dangerous levels of concentration,entering foodchains that pass the contaminants from plants to humans.Think of the whole process as a hazardous journey ending in disaster!So should we clean up the mess at the crash site,intercept the travellers bent on destruction,or stop them from leaving home in the first place?Do we pass laws banning these activities,jail those who are responsible,or appeal to their wish to survive/
