In recent yars,unusual weather conditions in countries around the world have threatened to destory crops,people,buildings,animals,and machinery.
What has happened to our weather?Has it really changed?Will it continue to change?
Scientists have been studying ancient rocks,trees,oceans,masses of ice and other planets,attempting to explain and forecast climate and weather.
Farming methods will have to be changed if the growing period is going to be longer or shorter or drier or wetter.
We have asked several well-known scientists who study the weather for their opinionsabout this important subject.
One university professor of science of the weather thinks that we are entering a New Ice Age.He says that our winters will become colder and longer and that the earth will be covered with ice and snow.
Another scientist disagress with the professor's theory.She believes that the earth is moving towards the sun,and that the temperature at the North Pole will reach 100℃.Ice will melt.Rivers and lakes will boil and disappear.Crops will burn up.
Other scientists have expressed opinions that are somewhere between these two extremes.
