Ask any group of teenagers in the UK what they most like to eat, and foods like

题型:不详难度:来源:
Ask any group of teenagers in the UK what they most like to eat, and foods like pizzas, pasta, burgers and chips are always mentioned. Many young people would probably also list the local fast-food restaurant as their favorite place.
But what teenagers like to eat is not necessarily what they should eat. For a growing body, eating foods with plenty of calcium(钙), such as milk, yoghurt and cheese, is important because calcium is essential for the development of healthy, strong bones(骨头).Similarly, foods that are rich in iron(铁) are good for developing bodies, so it’s good for them to eat red meat, bread and green vegetables.
Life habits can be developed during our teenage years, so it is greatly important that young people are educated about what foods are good. In 2005, in order to change eating habits and open teenagers’ minds to new tastes, a cook named Jamie Oliver started a “Feed Me Better” project. He worked with teachers and cooks in a number of schools across the UK to provide more healthy school meals. Although some teenagers and parents refused to have a try at first, the project was generally a huge success. The newspapers wrote articles about him and a TV program showed his visits to the schools.
No one expects to end the teenage love with fast and junk food, but, hopefully, if projects like “Feed Me Better” continue to give out the right messages, more young people will understand the importance of eating healthily.

Almost every kid in this country has ever eaten Hershey chocolate. But do you know that the Hershey chocolate factory is more than one hundred years old? And do you know that the father of Hershey Chocolate, Milton Hershey, had many failures in business before he started his famous company?
Milton Hershey grew up in Pennsylvania. Before he became interested in making chocolate, he worked as a printer for a small newspaper at first, and then decided that printing was not the right job for him.
Then he worked at a candy factory in Lancaster. After working a few years there, he decided to open his own little candy business near Philadelphia. His first business failed because it was not making money. After that, he went to Denver to learn how to make caramels(焦糖). He took his new skills back to New York and worked selling candies on the street. But his second business also failed.
Finally, Milton Hershey moved back to Pennsylvania where he grew up. He then experimented with all sorts of different candies and chocolate. By 1893 he was selling a million dollars worth of caramel candy each year. Since his chocolate-flavored(巧克力味的) caramels were the best selling, he decided to make chocolate himself.
By experimenting, Milton Hershey discovered how to make delicious chocolate. The area where he lived had a large and easy supply of milk and sugar, which helped him succeed in his chocolate business. In 1903, Milton Hershey built a huge chocolate factory and a town to go with it.
Today, the town of Hershey is still the home if the factory that Milton Hershey built. And if you ever visit, you can smell delicious chocolate smells just bu driving through the town.

Should Shanghai bid for(申办) the Summer Olympics in 2028? Here are some people’s opinions.
Some people said, “The games will improve Shanghai’s global influence and the city is powerful and must try to become a platform(平台) for major international dialogues. Shanghai has succeeded in holding the World Expo in 2010 and the city can also hold a successful Summer Olympics.”
Others, however, are not sure that it’s a good idea. They think the Olympics would be too expensive and the money could be better spent on other things.
The 2008 Beijing Olympics brought much prestige(声望) to the city and to China, but its cost, over $40 million, was high and the Olympic site(场地) in the center of the city is now largely unused. Could Shanghai learn from Beijing’s experience and do it better?
