阅读理解。     I don"t think there is anything wrong with your blood. The key to your problem is that long nap (打盹,
小睡) after dinner.
If you didn"t sleep for hours during the early part of the evening, you would be more ready to sleep at
bedtime. If you didn"t nap after dinner, you would not want to stay up so late, and you would not feel the
need to take a sleeping pill. The pill is still working in your system when you get up in the morning. This
helps account for the fact that you feel tired all day.
You should get out of the habit of sleeping during the evening. Right after your evening meal, engage in
some sort of physical activity-a sport such as bowling, perhaps. Or get together with friends for an evening
of cards and conversation. Then go to bed at your usual time or a little earlier, and you should be able to get
a good night"s rest without taking a pill.
If you can get into the habit of spending your evenings this way, I am sure you will feel less tired during
the day. At first it may be hard for you to go to sleep without taking a pill. If so, get up and watch television
or do some jobs around your house until you feel sleepy. If you fall asleep and then wake up a few hours later,
get up but do not take a sleeping pill. Read a while or listen to the radio, and make yourself a few hours" sleep
that night, you will feel better in the morning than you usually feel after taking a pill. The next night you will
be ready to sleep at an earlier hour. The most important thing is to avoid taking that nap right after dinner and
avoid taking pills. 1. According to the writer, it is difficult for you to go to sleep because _____.[     ]
A. you get the habit of staying up late
B. you haven"t taken sleeping pills
C. you sleep for hours after dinner
D. you fail to do some exercises 2. Which of the following is NOT true if you want to get out of the habit of sleeping during the evening? [     ]
A. Go to bed earlier than usual.
B. Talk with friends after dinner.
C. Stay with friends after dinner.
D. Do some physical labor. 3. You feel tired all day probably because _____. [     ]
A. you stay up too late
B. you get up too early in the morning
C. you take sleeping pills
D. you wake up too frequently at night 4. We may infer that the author is most probably a _____.[     ]
A. doctor
B. reporter
C. scientist
D. professor

a computer which is linked to the Internet.
People can shop for a variety of products on the Internet. Physical products include items such as books,
CDs, clothes and food. These types of products are the most common purchases (购入品) through the Internet. You can also buy information products such as on-line news, magazine stories, or computer software. Services
such as booking airline tickets, reserving (预定) hotels or renting cars are also available (可得到的) on the
Internet. You can also go shopping on the Internet for entertainment services and take part in online games or
e-mail "chats".

Looking back on my childhood, I am convinced that naturalists are born and not made. Although we were
all brought up in the same way, my brothers and sisters soon left their pressed flowers and insects. Unlike them,
I had no ear for music and languages. I was not an early reader and I could not do mental arithmetic.
Before World War I we spent our summer holidays in Hungary. I have only the dim (模糊的) memory of
the house we lived in, of my room and my toys. Nor do I recall clearly the large family of grandparents, aunts,
uncles and cousins who gathered next door. But I do have a clear memory of the dogs, the farm animals, the
local birds, and above all, the insects.
I am a naturalist, not a scientist. I have a strong love of the natural world and my enthusiasm had led me into
varied investigations (调查研究). I love discussing my favorite topics and enjoy burning the midnight oil reading
about other people"s observations and discoveries. Then something happens that brings these observations
together in my conscious (清醒的) mind. Suddenly you fancy you see the answer to the riddle, because it all
seems to fit together. This has resulted in my publishing 300 papers and books, which some might honor with
the title of scientific research.
But curiosity, keen (敏锐的) eyes, a good memory and enjoyment of the animal and plant world do not make
a scientist: one of the excellent and essential qualities required is self-discipline, a quality I lack. A scientist, up to
a certain point, can be made. A naturalist is born. If you can combine the two, you get the best of both worlds.
1. The first paragraph tells us the author _____.
[     ]
A. was interested in flowers and insects in his childhood
B. lost his hearing when he was a child
C. didn"t like his brothers and sisters
D. was born into a naturalist"s family
2. The author can"t remember his relatives clearly because _____.
[     ]
A. he didn"t live very long with them
B. the family was extremely large
C. he was too young when he lived with them
D. he was fully occupied with observing nature
3. The author can"t remember his relatives clearly because _____.
[     ]
A. he didn"t live very long with them
B. the family was extremely large
C. he was too young when he lived with them
D. he was fully occupied with observing nature
4. The author says that he is a naturalist rather than a scientist probably because he thinks he _____.
[     ]
A. has a great deal of trouble doing mental arithmetic
B. lacks some of the qualities required of a scientist
C. just reads about other people"s observations and discoveries
D. comes up with solutions in a most natural way

Americans, generally speaking, make an effort to be friendly with their colleagues, neighbours and other
people they often run into. This often takes the form of a simple greeting like "How"s it going?" or "What"s up?"
This is simply a way of saying I see you and I recognize you.
Americans also show this friendliness in "small talk". Small talk is a casual conversation that Americans
