阅读理解。     Life comes in a package. This package includes happiness and sorrow, failure and success,
hope and despair. Life is a learning process. Experiences in life teach us new lessons and make
us a better person. With each passing day we learn to handle various situations.
                                                       Love
Love plays a pivotal role on out life. Love makes you feel wanted. Without love a person
could go Hayward(不归路) and also become cruel and ferocious. In the early stage of our life,
our parents are the ones who show us with unconditional love and care, they teach us about
what is right and wrong, good and bad. But we always tend to take this for granted. It is only
after marriage and having kids that a person understands and becomes sensitive to others feelings.
Kids make a person responsible and mature and help us to understand life better.
                                         Happiness and Sorrow
Materialistic happiness is short-lived, but happiness achieved by bringing a smile on others
face gives a certain level of fulfillment. Peace of mind is the main link to happiness. No mind is
happy without peace. We realize the true worth of happiness when we are in sorrow. Sorrow
is basically due to death of a loved one, failure and despair. But these things are temporary and
pass away.
                                            Failure and Success
Failure is the path to success. It helps us to touch the sky, teaches us to survive and shows us
a specific way. Success brings in money, fame, pride and self-respect. Here it becomes very
important to keep our head on our shoulder he only way to show our gratitude to God for
bestowing success on us is by being humble, modest, courteous and respectful to the less
fortunate ones.
                                            Hope and Despair
Hope is what keeps life going. Parents always hope their children will do well. Hope makes
us dream. Hope builds in patience. Life teaches us not to despair even in the darkest hour,
because after every night there is a day. Nothing remains the same we have only one choice
keep moving on in life and be hopeful.
Life teaches us not to regret over yesterday, for it has passed and is beyond our control.
Tomorrow is unknown, for it could either be bright or dull. So the only alternative is work hard
today, so that we will enjoy a better tomorrow.1.In the passage, the author compares life to          .A. joy and sorrow

It has been proved over and over again that patience is a virtue that not so many persons hold, it is also very true that in most cases haste (匆忙) ruins everything. It"s high time that you learnt to be patient as it is an important quality for those who want to get success. If you are always in a hurry and never think twice
before taking a decision, then you risk losing important things and you are the one who suffers.
One of the conditions to get a good job and also to keep it is the patience. If you make decisions
without consulting (磋商)  with someone else then there are two reasons: the first one: you are so well
prepared in your field that you are always right and what you decide is the best and the second one: you
don"t think carefully and you take everything for granted. As a result of that,                and your image will be ruined.
Hasty climbers often have sudden falls, especially when they are young and inexperienced. When you
are young you feel that you know all. However, when you try to solve new situations you"ll realize you
don"t know as much as you think you knew. Time helps you gain experience and improves your abilities.
All it takes is a little more patience and more accepting others" advice.
It takes time to learn to admit you may be wrong. Don"t rush into things and always think the
consequences of your actions. 1. What are the two main reasons why people make a decision without consulting with others?  (Please
answer within 30 words.)

阅读理解。     A few years ago I had an "aha!" moment regarding handwriting.
I had in my hand a sheet of paper with handwritten instructions on it for some sort
of editorial task.It occurred at first that I did not recognize the handwriting, and then I realized
whose it must be.I finally became aware of the fact that I had beenworking with this colleague
for at least a year, maybe two,and yet I did not recognize her handwriting at that point.
It was a very important event in the computerization of life-a sign that the informal.Friendly
communication of people working together in an office had changed from notes in pen to instant
messages and emails. There was a time when our workdays were filled with little letters, and we
recognized one another"s handwriting the way we knew voices or faces.
As a child visiting my father"s office,I was pleased to recognize,in little notes on the desks of
his staff, the same handwriting I would see at home in the notes he would leave on the fridge-except
that those notes were signed "dad" instead of "RFW".
All this has been on my mind because of the talk about The Rise and Fall of Handwriting,a book
by Florey.Sire shows in her book a deep concern about the fall of handwriting and the failure of
schools to teach children to write well, but many others argue that people in a digital age can"t be
expected to learn to hold a pen.
     I don"t buy it.
I don"t want to see anyone cut off from the expressive, personal associations that a pen still
promotes better than a digital keyboard does. For many a biographer, part of really getting to know
their subjects is learning to read their handwriting.
What some people advocate is teaching one of the many attractive handwritings based on the
handwriting of 16th-century Italy. That may sound impossibly grand-as if they want kids to learn to
draw by copying classical paintings. However, they have worked in many school systems. 1.Why was the author surprised at not recognizing his colleague"s handwriting?

A.He had worked with his colleague long enough.
B.His colleague"s handwriting was so beautiful.
C.His colleague"s handwriting was so terrible.
D.He still had a lot of work to do.

2.People working together in an office used to           . A.talk more about handwriting
B.take more notes on workdays
C.know better one another"s handwriting
D.communicate better with one another 3.The author"s father wrote notes in pen           . A.to both his family and his staff
B.to his family in small letters
C.to his family on the fridge
D.to his staff on the desk 4.According to the author, handwritten notes           . A.are harder to teach in schools
B.attract more attention
C.are used only between friends
D.carry more message 5.We can learn from the passage that the author           . A.thinks it impossible to teach handwriting
B.does not want to lose handwriting
C.puts the blame on the computer
D.does not agree with Florey

阅读理解。     Life is difficult.
It is a great truth because once we truly understand and accept it, then life is no longer difficult.
Most do not fully see this truth. Instead they complain(抱怨) about their problems and difficulties
as if life should be easy. It seems to them that difficulties stand for a special kind of suffering
especially forced on them or else on their families, their class, or even their nation.
What makes life difficult is that the process of facing and solving problems is a painful one.
Problems, depending on their nature, cause sadness, or loneliness(孤独) or regret or anger or fear.
These are uncomfortable feelings, often as painful as any kind of physical pain. And since life
causes a lot of problems, life is always difficult and is full of pain as well as joy.
Yet, it is in this whole process of solving problems that life has its meaning. Problems are the
serious test that tells us success from failure. When we want to encourage the growth of human
spirit, we encourage the human ability to solve problems, just as in school we set problems for
our children to solve. It is through the pain of meeting and working out problems that we learn.
As Benjamin Franklin said, "Those things that hurt, instruct(指导)." It is for this reason that wise
people learn not to fear but to welcome the pain of problems.1.Which sentence best express the central point of the passage?A. Problems and difficulties represent a special kind of suffering.
B. We become stronger by facing and solving problems of life.
C. Life is difficult because our problems bring us pain.
D. People like to complain about their problems.2. The writer probably used just one short sentence in the first paragraph to ___.A. save space
B. persuade readers

D. get readers" attention3. The main idea of paragraph 3 is that _________.A. most people feel life is easy
B. the writer feel life is easy

B. teach them to fear the pain of solving the problems
C. help them learn to deal with pain
D. teach them how to respect problems5. The saying from Benjamin Franklin "Those things that hurt, instruct" suggests   that ______.A. we do not learn from experience
B. we do not learn when we are in pain
C. pain teaches us important lessons
D. pain cannot be avoided

阅读理解。     In one way of thinking, failure is part of life. In another way, failure may be a way towards
success. The "spider-story" is often told. Robert Bruce, leader of the Scots in the 13th century,
was hiding in a cave from the English. He watched a spider making a web(网). The spider tried
to reach across a rough place in the rock. He tried six times. On the seventh time he made it and
went on to make his web. Bruce is said to have been encouraged by this and to have gone on to
defeat the English. Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, made hundreds of models that failed
before he found the right way to make one. Once he was asked why he kept on trying to make
a new type of battery when he had failed so often, he replied, "Failure? I have no failure. Now
I know 50,000 ways it won"t work."
So what? First, always think about your failure. What caused it? Were conditions right? Were
you in top form yourself? What can you change so things will go right next time?
Second, is the goal you"re trying to reach the right one? Try to do some thinking about what
your real goals may be. Think about this question, "If I do succeed in this, where will it get me?"
This may help you prevent failure in things you shouldn"t be doing anyway.
The third thing to keep in mind about failure is that it"s a part of life. Learn to "live with yourself"
even though you may have failed.1. In the first paragraph the writer tells mainly about _____.A. the value of failure
B. how people fail
C. famous failures
D. how not to fail2. The thing the writer does not tell you to do to deal with failure is _____.A. check out your goals to see if they are right for you
B. think about failure as part of your life
C. think about failure to find out what went wrong
D. keep away from things that are beyond you3. Even if we have failed we should _____.A. learn to forget it
B. learn to remember it
C. learn to enjoy it
D. learn to accept it
