战国时期,马耳山一带尚无山.东南坡有一青年,名曰柳荆,武艺高超、箭法超群,以打猎为生.
During the Warring States Period (475 B.C-221 B.C),there was no mountain in today's Horse's Ears Mountain area.There lived a boy named Liujing on the southeast slope.He was good at martial arts and archery skills.He made a living mainly by hunting.
一日,柳荆外出打猎,忽闻狼嚎之声,大喜,循声而去,却见四恶狼围攻一小青马,小青马虽拼死抵抗,仍危在旦夕.柳荆见状,弯弓搭箭,一箭正中头狼左眼.头狼一命呜呼,同伴仓皇而逃.
One day,Liujing went out hunting.He was so happy to hear a wolf howling.He found a horse was surrounded and attacked by four wolves when he came closer.The horse is in danger although it is very brave.Suddenly,a wolf was shot dead by Liujing's arrow while the others ran away.
小青马感恩戴德,从此便为柳荆坐骑.两年后,小青马已成大青马.此时,燕国武将秦开与东胡交战,招兵买马.柳荆遂应征入伍.柳荆作战勇敢,屡立奇功,大青马随主人出生入死,功不可没.一日,两军激战,柳荆不幸重伤,大青马救主心切,连跑数百里将柳荆送回营帐,柳荆得救,大青马却活活累死.
The horse felt deeply grateful and started to accompany Liujing since that time.Two years later,the horse had grown up.At this time,Qinkai-a general of the State of Yan was a war with DongHu(a minority nationality in the Spring and Autumn period).In order to further defeat Donghu,Qinka enlarged the army and Liujing enlisted into the army.Liujing and the horse were cited for bravery in battles.One day,Liujing was injured in a battle,the horse traveled hundreds of miles to bring him back to the camp.Liujing's life was saved while the horse was dead.
上天感念大青马舍身救主,将其点化成仙,变为天马.大青马在天宫常思念主人,见柳荆已年迈多病,生活困顿,甚为不忍.一日,大青马私自叼走粮种、树种下凡,又让柳荆过上了好日子,粮种、树种也救济了附近百姓.
The God of Heaven was moved by the horse so turned it into the Pegasus (a famous winged horse of ancient times).The horse missed his master very much and he found Liujing was poor,sick and ageing.One day,the horse secretly took away the seeds of both grain and trees from the Heaven Palace.Liujing and his neighbors began to live better lives with the help of the horse.
大青马触犯天条,为惩罚大青马,上天将其化作石土,填平此地水坑,只留两耳露于地面,倾听天庭召唤.大青马虽死而无怨,但仍甚为着急,耳朵越长越大,便形成今日之马耳山.
However,it was finally found by the God of Heaven,he turned the horse into stone soil to fill the puddle.The ears of the horse were left on the ground to listen to the call from the Heaven Palace.They grew longer as time passed by,and finally formed Horse's Ears Mountain.
