阅读理解       Ten years ago, I lived in a building in New York. The building next door was only a few feet away
from mine. There was a woman who lived there whom I had never met. I could see her seated by her
window each afternoon, sewing or reading.
After several months had gone by, I began to notice that her window was dirty. Everything was
unclear through the dirty window. I would say to myself: "Why doesn"t that woman wash her window?
It really looks terrible."
One morning I decided to clean my apartment, including washing the window on the inside. Late in
the afternoon when I finished the cleaning, I sat down by the window with a cup of coffee for a rest.
What a surprise! Across the way, the woman sitting by her window was very clear. Her window was
clean!
Then, it dawned on me. I had been criticizing (批评)her dirty window, but all the time I was
looking at hers through my own dirty window.
That was quite an important lesson for me. How often had I looked at and criticized others through
the dirty window of my heart, through my own shortcomings?
Since then, whenever I wanted to judge(评判) someone, I asked myself first: "Am I looking at him
through my own dirty window?" Then I try to clean the window of my own world so that I may see the
world about me more clearly.1. The writer couldn"t see the woman clearly because ____.A. the woman"s window was dirty

was the funniest-looking dog I"d ever seen. Short thin curly hair covered her sausage-shaped(香肠形)
body. Her eyes always seemed surprised. And her tail looked like a mouse"s tail.
She was brought to the vet because her owners didn’t want her any more. I thought Minnie had a
sweet personality, though. "No one should judge her by her looks," I thought. Finally, I advertised Minnie
in the local paper. "Funny-looking dog, well-behaved, needs a loving family."
When a boy called, I warned him that Minnie was strange-looking. The boy on the phone told me that
his grandfather’s sixteen-year-old dog had just died. They wanted Minnie no matter what. I gave Minnie
a good bath. Then we waited for them to arrive. At last, an old car stopped in front of the vet"s. Two kids
ran to the door. They picked Minnie up and rushed her out to their grandfather, who was waiting in the
car. I hurried behind them to see his reaction to Minnie. Inside the car, the grandfather held Minnie in his
arms and stroked her soft hair. She licked(舔)his face. Her tail wagged around so quickly that it looked
like it might fly off her body.
"She"s perfect!"the old man said happily.
I was thankful that Minnie had found a good home.
Suddenly, I saw that the grandfather’s eyes were a milky white colour-he was blind.1. Why did the writer advertise Minnie in the local newspaper? Because__________.A. he wanted to sell her at a good price

When I was at university, I studied very hard. But a lot of my friends did very little work. Some did
just enough to pass the exams. Others didn"t do quite enough. Fred Baines was such a student. He spent
more time drinking in the Tea House than working in the library.
Once at the end of the term, we had to take an important test in Chinese. The test had 100 questions.
Beside each question we had to write "True" or "False". While I was studying in my room the night before
the test, Fred was watching TV. Fred usually worried a lot the night before a test. But on that night he
looked very easy. Then he told me of his idea."
It"s very simple. There are 100 questions and I have to get 50 right to pass the test. I"ll take a coin into
the room. I haven"t studied a Chinese book for months, so I"ll toss (掷,扔) the coin. In that way, I"m sure
I"ll get half of the questions right."
The next day, Fred came happily into the examination room. As he sat tossing a coin for half an hour,
he wrote down his answers. Then he left, half an hour before the rest of us.
The next day, Fred met his Chinese teacher at the school gate. "Oh, good, "he said. "Have you got the
results of the test?" The teacher looked at him and smiled, "Ah, it"s you, Baines. Just a minute." Then the
teacher reached his pocket and took out a coin. He threw it into the air, caught in his hand and looked at
it. "I"m sorry, Baines, you failed!".

根据短文内容,判断下列句子是否正确,对的写"T",错的写"F"。
(     )1. Fred Baines was a hard-working student.
(     )2. They had to take a Chinese test.
(     )3. Fred usually worried a lot the night before a test.
(     )4. Fred thought hard and wrote down his answers.
(     )5. Fred passed the test at last
