My favourite shop is called "Model World". It is on the second floor of Happy Plaza, near to Pizza Club. It is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day. "Model World" sells all kinds of models. It has model soldiers, cars, boats, airplanes, space shuttles and even dinosaurs. It has models for young children and models for adults (成人). Some models have just about twenty pieces, and others have over 2,000 pieces. You can also buy paints and glue (胶水) and other things there. The staff at "Model World" is very nice. They are very interested in making models. They will give you advice, and answer all of your questions. The prices are not low but they are not high. My best buy was a model of a helicopter. It cost $ 30 but it had over 400 pieces. It was really fun to make. If you are interested in models, you should visit this shop.

Dear Estelle, Saturday, 5th June I hope you" re well and not working too hard! I" ve been revising for my exams now for the last two weeks. That" s why I haven" t written for such a long time. Since the beginning of this year we" ve been doing a project called "World Class". Have you heard of it.? Not everyone in the class could take part, but luckily I could. The school chooses a "twin school" (姊妹学校) in a different area of the world. Our head teacher chose a school in Uganda. They gave us someone to write to from that school. For three months, I"ve written to a girl called Louisa, who is the same age as me. It"s been interesting to hear about her life. She"s told me all about her school and described her daily (日常的) life. I can" t believe that her School doesn"t. have any electricity. She goes to "school from eight o"clock in the morning until six. O"clock. in the evening. I can" t believe how lucky we are here! She" s also told me that she often can" t go to school because she has to look after her baby brother and sister. She"s tried to teach me some of her language and it" s really difficult. I love it because it" s the first time I" ve thought about what life must be like somewhere else. I can"t believe people miss classes here when everything is so easy for us. I think more people should help out with projects like this. At the weekend we" re going to have a sports day to help raise money to send to the school. Perhaps one day I"ll be able to go to Uganda and meet Louisa myself--who knows? Lots of love, Suzanne

Give Water, Save Lives A bottle of water may not seem like much to you, but thousands of bottles will be of great help for people who live in drought-hit (遭受旱灾) areas in China. Since last autumn, there has been very little rain in Southwest China. Some places, especially in Yunnan. Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, have experienced a serious drought. Crops (庄稼) died, the land cracked, and wells (井) and rivers dried up. More than 20 million people are having difficulty in finding safe drinking water. After learning about the drought, many people around the country helped by giving water, money and other things. Last week, every member of the Communist Youth League (共青团员) and Young Pioneers (少先队员) were encouraged to give one bottle of water to the drought-hit areas. Students in primary schools and middle schools quickly joined the activity. In Yuhua Primary School in Xi" an, 900 students bought over 1,000 bottles of water with their pocket money. They also wrote their wishes on the bottles. The serious drought has also made students realize the importance of saving water. Students from Nanshan Middle School in Huizhou in Guangdong went on the street to tell people to take part in water-saving activities. "I"ve heard that some children in drought-hit areas don"t have enough drinking water. They have to drink muddy (含有泥土的) water. I feel really sad about that," said one student. "I decide to take a shower twice a week instead of every day to save water." he said.

One can have many experiences, but the one I never forget is my bicycling trip in Taiwan. When we were going to 1 school,my teacher suggested that we could do something special to remember our school life. After a long discussion,we decided to travel 2 the whole island by bicycle. We began to get some training to make our 3 stronger. So we ran 3,000 meters after school. At first, I could only run about 2,000 meters. My legs were heavy like steel and my heart 4 very fast. After two weeks of training, I could run 3,000 meters 5 . We started our journey (旅行) the last week of July. We rode about 100 kilometers 6 . It was very hot and our clothes were 7 all the time. One day, we were riding up the mountain when there was 8 wrong with my bicycle, and I fell and was hurt. I almost gave up and didn"t want to 9 the trip, but I tried to solve the problems successfully and kept on. Fifteen days passed, we returned to school again. We were so 10 . This experience was like a miracle (奇迹) for me. I learned that I could do what I want to.
