In the UK, most children have their lunches at school, but in some schools, parents can choose what their children eat. The children can have a school dinner-a hot, cooked meal; or they can take a packed(包装的) lunch with them, which usually includes cold food like sandwiches. Often parents know what their children want. Cath, a mother of three children, told us, “My children have packed lunches because they say they don’t like to have school dinners. So I make three packed lunches every morning.” However, another mother, Susan, made a different choice. She said, “My daughters have a always had school dinners. I think they probably get healthier food at school than a few sandwiches I make for them.” But how healthy are school dinners? Kaz, a father, thought poorly of them. He said, “Fizzy(起泡的) drinks were offered and I think there were a lot of chips.” Jamie Oliver spent a year working in a school kitchen. He was worried about the unhealthy food which included burgers, pizzas and chips. So he tried to cook healthy food such as good stews and curries for the children instead. So Jamie improved the school dinners, and trained the dinner ladies to cook healthy food in that school. Then he advised the government to improve school food across the country. And it seems that the changes have begun. Anna, a pupil, told us, “We used to have a fast food window where you got chips and coke, but they stopped that this year. There’s a salad restaurant, which is good, so it’s healthier than it was.” 根据材料内容选择最佳答案,并将其标号填入前括号内。 小题1:How many meals do most children in the UK have at school?小题2: would like the children to have the school meals.A.Cath | B.Susan | C.Kaz | D.Jamie | 小题3:Jamie thought were healthy food.A.stews and curries | B.burgers and pizzas | C.chips and fizzy drinks | D.sandwiches and coke | 小题4:The last two paragraphs(段落) show that .A.there’s a salad restaurant in every school | B.salad is the only healthy food for students | C.schools have begun to cook healthier food | D.the government doesn’t care about school dinners | 小题5:What is the best title for this text?A.Healthy Food | B.Unhealthy Food | C.Packed Lunches | D.School Dinners |

It is well known that everyone has his own dream as well as his own future. But do you know what future really is? I have to say that future is now. That is to say, we must treasure every minute now. If we want to have a bright future, we should know how important time is and use it well. There is an old English saying, “Gain (得到) time, gain life.” Then what’s time? Time is something that we can’t see or touch, but we feel it passing by. Time is always with us. When we are at table, time passes; when we play, time goes by unnoticeable. We always say “Time is money”, but time is even more precious (珍贵的) than money, because when money is spent, we can make it back. But if time is gone away, it will never return. So, some of us even say time is priceless (无价的). We should always remember: future is now. For us students, we should try our best to work hard in order to create a great future of our own. We should make the best use of every hour and be the master of today. We should do everything before us as well as possible. And never put off (推迟) what can be done today till tomorrow. As we all know, “Time and tide wait for no man.” If you waste today, you will regret tomorrow. So from now on, work hard. Tomorrow will be better, and your future will be brighter. Remember: “No pains, no gains.” Today’s hard work is the cause of tomorrow’s harvest. 根据短文内容,选择最佳答案。 小题1:If we want to have a bright future, we should . A study finds that not enough morning light causes teenagers not to get enough sleep at night. “As teenagers spend more time indoors, they miss necessary morning light. Day light is needed to keep the balance of the body’s 24-hour biological system (生物系统), which regulates (调节) body temperature and sleep styles,” reports Dr. Mariana Figueiro. “These teenagers who receive little morning light are going to bed later, getting less sleep and doing badly in tests. They are more likely to fail in their exams.” In the study, Dr. Figueiro asked 11 students in Grade 8 to wear special glasses to prevent blue morning light from reaching their eyes. At the end of the 5-day study she found that they fell asleep 30 minutes later than usual. Throughout her research, Dr. Figueiro has been very worried about teenagers going to bed too late. The problem is that today’s schools require teenagers to be in school very early in the morning. These students are likely to miss the morning light because they often go to school before the sun is up or as it’s just rising. Furthermore (此外), the schools are not likely to provide enough electric light to keep the balance of this biological system. Our biological system is much more sensitive (敏感的) to blue light. Therefore, having lots of light in the classroom does not make sure that there is enough light to keep our biological system balanced. 小题1:Which of the following is the result of the study?A.Blue light in the morning harms the biological system. | B.Not enough morning light keeps teenagers sleep less. | C.Not getting more light in the morning make teenagers happy. | D.Not enough sleep makes teenagers fail in tests. | 小题2:We know from the passage that morning light __________.A.has the same effects as afternoon light | B.may change studying habits of teenagers | C.is important to children’s biological system | D.has no effect on students’ tests | 小题3:What’s the problem of the students according to the study?A.There are not enough electric lights in the classroom. | B.Being in school early affects their study habits. | C.They have to go to bed very early to have enough sleep. | D.They go to school too early to get enough morning light. |
