答案
小题1:Sleeping positions and personalities 由第一段中的“…your sleeping position shows the real you.”以及后文的分析可知文章主要讲了一个人的睡觉姿势与性格有关系。 小题1:You’re very stubborn, but you aren’t very ambitious. 要答对该题,需要抓住两个点,一是stick to your own opinion,再就是have far-reaching goals,只要搞清楚了它们的含义,就不难得出答案了。 小题1:be on your own/stay alone 根据上文的“You’re shy and you don’t normally like meeting people.”可推知答案。 小题1:I often sleep on my stomach.I will try to be happy, listen to good advice and make a good plan for tomorrow. 该题为开放性问题,要求学生根据自己的情况作答,一般没有标准答案。 小题1:当你醒着时,你不会表露出你隐藏的性格,因为你能控制自己的行为;但是当你睡着时,你的睡姿会显露出真正的你。 |

One in five American families will move every year. Moving is one of the most stress-producing events a family has to go through. Experts say it can be harder for children. How do you help your child adjust to the changes? The Ricardos moved from their old house to a new home. Same family, same dog-but it was harder for 9-year-old Elena. She hated the room, the house and everything. She hated leaving her friends the most. “ I was so emotional. I mean, saying goodbye to all my friends…..my very close friends, who was my neighbor, made me so sad,” says Elena. For some children, the emotional stress of moving is not much more different from the emotions when someone has died. “There’s that sense that, ‘I’ve lost my friends, my friends, my base, my school, my teachers-everything I knew that made me feel safe is all gone now. I have to start over,” says Dr. Tim Jordan. Starting over is exactly Dr. Tim Jordan’s advice. Make new friends, enter the new school and enter the new neighborhood. And here are some other pieces of advice. ● Explain clearly to the children why the move is necessary. ● Familiarize(使熟悉) the children as much as possible with the new area with maps, photographs or the daily newspaper. ● After the move, got the children to join in activities in the place. ● Help the children keep in touch with friends from the neighborhood before through telephone, letters, e-mail, and personal visits. 小题1: Which of the following is useful to reduce the children’s stress before the move?A.Let doctors give children some advice. | B.Try letting children accept the fact of moving. | C.Let children keep in touch with their former friends. | D.Copy the new environment in the old home. | 小题2: What can we know from the passage?A.Most American children can get used to the changes in moving. | B.Dr. Tim Jordan lost his family, friends, teachers after moving. | C.The emotional stress of moving is the same in some way as that of knowing someone’s death. | D.the Ricardos lost their dogs after moving to their new house. | 小题3: The passage mainly wants to _____A.tell parents the reasons of moving. | B.explain the reasons of stress. | C.give parents some advice on moving. | D.teach parents how to move. |

People often talk as if shyness is a disease or mental condition that can be cured. I prefer to think of it as an emotional disability. It’s something we are born with and something we carry with us in our entire lives. There are too many people, however, who seem to be determined to find some way of doing away with their shyness. In my opinion, it’s a waste of time. I don’t mean that we should do nothing about it; quite the contrary, I think we need to separate the basic fact of shyness from our ability to take part in a social environment. Look at one of the most famous shy people of them all, Johnny Carson. This man is painfully shy, yet for decades he made a living talking and associating with different people every night, in front of a national audience. Carson has never done away with his shyness, but he has successfully found a way to deal with it to the extent that he could be, not just a talk show host, but a legend (传奇) among talk show hosts. Look also at Sally Fields, who has recently admitted her problem with shyness. This is a woman who has appeared in many films, TV shows and interviews, yet in her early years she was so shy that she turned down a lunch invitation from Jane Fonda because she was terribly afraid of meeting her. I guess that our shyness is there because each of us is born with some insecurity (不安全感) and this insecurity prevents us from reading out to others the way people with a more open personality do. As we grow up and become adults, we allow our social skills to grow and develop. But we are still stuck in kindergarten or elementary school or wherever it was when our shyness took root in our soul. 小题1:. In the author’s view, shyness can be explained as _________.A.a disease that can be easily cured | B.a not very normal mental condition | C.an emotional disability | D.something we pick up after birth | 小题2:. The author believes it’s a waste of time to ____________A.develop a healthy personality | B.talk with as many people as possible | C.study where shyness comes from | D.look for ways to do away with one’s shyness | 小题3:. Which of the following is TRUE of Johnny Carson?A.He dared to speak in front of a national audience. | B.He did away with his shyness carefully. | C.He was described as a hero in some legend books. | D.He failed to become a good talk show host. | 小题4:. The author thinks that our shyness is there because _______A.we are not open enough | B.we don’t feel safe at heart | C.we try to reach out to others all the time | D.we lack certain social skills |
